Synopsis:
BOY INTERRUPTED
By Dana Perry / USA / 2008 / TBA / 92 min
The Arts House - Screening Room
25th Apr, 11:30am (SAT)
Asian Premiere
An intimate portrayal of a young boy’s tragic struggle with bipolar disorder.
From age five, Evan Perry was already obsessed with death and constantly talked about suicide. His concerned parents immediately referred him to a psychiatrist, who diagnosed Evan with bipolar disorder. Despite medical and psychiatric intervention, Evan’s young life eventually ended tragically. Using interviews with friends and family members, home videos, and Evan’s own writings, this documentary pieces together a portrait and a memorial of a precocious and intensely sensitive young boy.
Dana Perry has been making films and documentaries for more than fifteen years. She produced and directed the documentary series And You Don’t Stop: 30 Years of Hip-Hop (2004) and the documentary film Making a Noise: A Native American Musical Journey with Robbie Robertson (1998). She most recently produced the television series Sex: The Revolution (2008). Perry lives with her family in New York City.
