WTS Monster Beats OEM
Price: $40(reg postage)
Review:
Looks
Looks exactly like the original monster beats. The ear piece is very
durable and like the original ones they do not tangle easily! Only
complains is that the wires have a musky smell that goes away after a
day. Guess it’s the factory smell?
Accessories and packaging
It comes with a rather nice hard casing made of some kind of material
that feels like a cross between cardboard and Styrofoam but sturdy
nonetheless. Comes with 2 pairs of triflanges and four pairs of single
flanges of various sizes.
The packaging looks exactly the same the original monster beats that I
see in stores. Very impressive indeed.

Sound Quality
While I have not personally hear the original monster beats, I must
emphasize that these OEMs definitely ain’t as good as them given that
the orignal Monsters sell at a much higher price point which would have
suggest a better sound quality. The OEM Monsters sounds more like a
budget iem which in my opinion is fine given the price point.
Prior to receiving this set of Monster OEM, I owned 3 other IEMs-
Crossroad Bijou 3, Hifiman Re 2 and Hifiman Re0
Out of the box, the Monster OEM sounded almost like my Re 2. It has an
analytical sound signature with almost ZERO bass. It was almost a joke
to me given that Monster Beats are known to be bass monsters and the OEM
version should sound similar.
Thus, I gave the Monsters a 50 hour burn in. And Oh gosh what changes!
The monsters now sound like my crossroad Bijou 3 instead. It now has a
dark sound signature and the details and clarity seemed to have tone
down. Instead, the bass is now ALOT more pronounced. In effect it gets a
little boomy for some songs like bring me back to life. The bass have
nice impact but does not extend well making it a little dull at times.
To me, this feels like a pair of Crossroad Bijou 3 with a more
pronounced bass.
Mainstream pop music will do fine with these IEMs but metal heads should
look somewhere as the bass is generally so overwhelming it feels a
little nauseating.
Conclusion.
At theprice of $45, these OEMs are value for money especially for the
fashion conscious . The OEMs replicate the external outlook of the
earphones perfectly which made it a perfect accessory. The sound quality
is decent at this price point but definitely not a head turner for
those who expects under $100 IEMs to punch above their weight like the
Hifiman RE series, Soundmagic pl series or the Cyclones to name a few.
