This auction is for my 1999 Gibson USA Les Paul Standard Guitar in Ebony Finish. This is a fantastic example of a Les Paul Standard. This is not one of those chambered, light weight Standards. This is a little old-school weighing in at a healthy 10.0 Pounds. This is a great Les Paul and someone is getting a killer deal. This one is very shiny and glossy as it should be. It was enjoyed a bit during the years, but certainly not abused. Keep Reading ...
Being a Black guitar, you know it shows every little thing. It STILL SHOWS Fantastic. The pickup covers, bridge and tail are a bit tarnished if you get up close, however they still shine and reflect the light like a Les Paul should. If you get in close and start angling the front body into a light, you will pick up on some light playing and polishing marks. These are mostly on the bottom edge of the front body with some on the lower left where you arm/wrist would be when playing. This guitar was enjoyed by a standing up player. On the left lower edge area of the front body there is some slight fading of the shine. This is a very common area, again where the arm/wrist rubs begins to wear. You need to be close and catch the right angle to see the fade. From a short distance it still shines and is glossy, courtesy of Dr. Gooze Axe Wax.

If you flip over to the rear body, there is some light patches of fine, thin playing rash. I do not want to call it buckle rash as it is not thick, heavy and wormy. Shirt or pants button/snap rash. I took a photo on an extreme angle with lots of light and flash to enhance it for you to see. In real life, it does not show that profoundly. You need to get close and angle it around to pick up on it. The most noticeable blemish on the entire guitar is on the bottom of the large rear plastic access cover. There is a ding through the finish to the wood. See the photo above of a close up with a pen. You could color it in with a wood touch up pen from your local hardware store. It really does not bother me. It is on the back and low. Who looks there? To the right of the large access cover all the way to the right lower side edge you will find some light dings and surface scuffs from honest playing. Again, nothing severe. The side body of this Les Paul is in great shape for a guitar that has been enjoyed. There is a tiny ding on the left lower curve of the Les Paul body. I put a close up of a pen tip showing that tiny round circle.
The front headstock has some light string scratching from changes and uncut long strings. The largest one is on the top right of the headstock. You can see it in the headstock close up. It looks like a fine piece of hair you want to brush off. It will not brush off. There are very small cracks by the input jack cover screws and the rear access covers have some playing scratches. Look at the close up of the ding below the rear access cover and move your eyes over to the cover itself. You can get an idea of the light playing marks on the rear body from that photo. If you are looking for a pristine, mint condition Les Paul Standard, this is not your guitar. If you do not mind some honest play wear and polishing marks, then this is the deal of the day. This is A LOT OF LES PAUL and is priced to move quick. Grab this one up.
