This female wild panda was caught in a town called Dujiangyuan in China. After giving officials the run around for a few days, she was eventually caught by firemen who found her in a tree and shot her with a dart to make her sleepy. -

The bear was taken to a special panda research centre for treatment for sore paws. Then experts decided she should be released into the wild. She was given the name Shenglin I. Here she is saying goodbye to her keeper. -

Forest workers carried Shenglin I to the Longchi National Forest Park to be set free. She had a special bamboo snack in her cage to munch on during the journey. -

Shenglin I gingerly took a few steps onto the grass. She will now wear a tag so panda experts can check where she is and what she gets up to. -

Experts think Shenglin I may have wandered into a residential part of town because she was looking for a mate or had been thrown out by her mother. Now she's back in the wild and will live alongside the 1,600 other wild pandas in China. -

Irene, the ninth tropical storm of an unusually busy Atlantic hurricane season, weakened back into a depression on Monday while Tropical Storm Harvey continued to plow unthreateningly through open waters. Irene formed on Sunday east-northeast of the Leeward islands in the Caribbean and by 11 a.m. EDT on Monday was located around 855 miles away from them.
