Don't Look Up
Lecturer David J Nightingale is one of thousands of photobloggers – people who are using the net to publish photographs which offer a glimpse into their lives.
His website Chromasia has a different daily photo, attracting 4,000 unique visitors a day and has been chosen by Time magazine as one of the Top 50 cool websites of 2005.
This photo of his daughter "captures her in a rare, almost elfin moment of peaceful contemplation," he said. -
Stepping Lightly
"I started the blog as a personal challenge. Could I take enough photographs to post one every day?" the Blackpool photographer added.
The website has more than 556 photos, each an aspect of his life – from family portraits to studies of his environment and wider world.
This photo, he said, "is partially a metaphor in that children, especially when lost in play, are almost entirely free from the worries that fix the rest of us quite firmly to the ground". -
Space
Digital photography has led to an explosion in photoblogs. "There's a much faster learning curve with digital photography. It's easier to become a better photographer," said Mr Nightingale.
"Photoblogs are very popular in the US, but they are beginning to catch on here," he added. "The beach was quite busy when I took this shot, yet this man was quite clearly lost in a world of his own."

Green Toronto
Sam Javanrouh is a Toronto-based photoblogger who takes daily pictures of his world.
"Photoblogging is a great creative challenge," he said. His pictures have a fascination for shapes, textures, shadows and architecture and give an insight into rarely seen aspects of a city.
This picture was shot through a window at a friend's house. "The surreal feel and the sudden darkness of the edge of horizon are intentional - maybe inspired by the War of the Worlds trailer!" -

"I try to vary my subject matter as broad as possible to make the whole process more interesting both for myself and my viewers," said Mr Javanrouh.
This pictures combines many of Mr Javanrouh's themes - colour, texture, shape and architecture.
"The clouds were great and the blue was the perfect blue after the rain," he said.
