George Best funeral
By the morning of George BestÂ’s funeral, a mountain of flowers and flags from well-wishers had been laid in the front garden of his father DickieÂ’s house, where the day began with a private blessing. -
The funeral cortege left the Cregagh estate, east Belfast, where Best was brought up and where father Dickie still lives. From the start of the journey to the funeral, the streets were lined with fans.
