when does this take place? in school?Originally posted by rainee:What do you feel about this issue? All those times when they said an activity is not compulsory..then when they realize that not many people want to participate, they change it to become mandatory and start forcing everyone to attend?
Anywhere also can...I have faced it in school, and am now facing it in my workplace as well...Originally posted by tut4nkh4m3n:when does this take place? in school?

it is privilege.Originally posted by tut4nkh4m3n:for me it rarely happens.
once when i was like in primary 5, there was this camp thing for 3 days and 2 nights. the principal announced to all but only to find about 10 students came to see him and seemed interested (the camp was for about 50 students). so then he made it compulsary for the whole of my class. the reason being our class was the cream class so we should be given this priviledge.
obviously we all felt bad, it's always better to have a choice than to do something cos you have to.
btw how'd you spell priviledge?
LOL.Originally posted by rainee:it is privilege.
Yea, I used to have to attend those stupid camps too, just before my exams in high school. There was once I rebelled and wrote a letter to the principal to tell him it is absurb to force all of us to pay a certain amount of money to go to a place we all did not want to go to. And then I got my whole class to sign it...the next day there was a big commotion in the school due to this letter of mine, but luckily they never found out it was me who wrote it cos the whole class kept quiet
Well, at work just now, there was this colleague of mine who just quitted. And with a very short notice and my boss do not want to hire an extra help to replace her so soon. So he sent out a notice to ask some of us to take her shift. Given that I have just been given a pay raise and live in the same building in the office, of course his first target was me. But thing is the shift fell on the time I am supposed to be having classes, so I politely told him no. He replied saying that I should work at least part of the shift(very early in the morning and I cannot work early in the morning, which is why all my shifts is either late at night or in the afternoon) but I told him I am already working 14 hours per week plus I am taking two hard core classes right now which demand most of my time when I am not working. He didn't say anything after that but can feel he is a bit bo song with me already lor...*sigh*
But I guess I have to learn how to say no sometimes, need to be firm otherwise will get pushed around
I don't work everyday, I only work during weekends because I have a 5 hour class hours everyday except on weekends. So I have to work for around 5 to 7 hours every weekend. I am working as the receptionist at my dorm.Originally posted by tut4nkh4m3n:LOL.
i can't believe you actually did that. it can't be that bad can it? unless the price to pay is too high of coz.
you'll hardly have friends who'll keep quiet, all my friends will somehow let it out.
14 hours a week? it doesn't seem much say 2 hours a day. what are you working as i want your job.
i mean he's your boss, if you say no to him he'll naturally feel that he wasn't given any face, but i'm sure he can understand. in the end you didn't have to do it huh?
Yea, the more you force me, the more I will rebel...Originally posted by starblue:yeah... i hate being forced to do things also lah... i mean, like if you didn't tell me i must do it, i probably will do it anyway... take for an example, household chores... if my mum don't nag and tell me i got to do it cos i'm the gal in the family, i probably will do it after i finish my book. but!! if she nags and nags and tell me next time i marry must do all the chores if not my mum-in-law will nag blah blah blah... then i go out for a walk dun do the chores purposely...
lolz.. that's me...
For starblue's case, she needs to show more skin to her own parents?Originally posted by charlize:Must I repeat myself?
Show some skin and you can make it voluntary or mandatory.
Really.
think i got to show more face instead.. -_-"Originally posted by rainee:For starblue's case, she needs to show more skin to her own parents?

Yes? No?
So what if the principal found out? You hahve to whole class behind you.you can say you are just merely "voicing your thoughts" and the people who signs agree with you. Why can't people voice their thoughts? Unless the principal wanna go against government "as the gahmen encourages people to voice their thoughts"Originally posted by rainee:it is privilege.

In the ideal world, you can voice out your thought and nothing will happen to you no matter what you say.Originally posted by seow:So what if the principal found out?
