I have to spend a lot for a good laptop...This is the one I am eying now

got but more expensive.yours around 1.5k is like around one of the cheapest liao.i have 2 friends who have the same model as yours,its working fine for them but they complain about the weight too.however if you are buying it for office work then the weight shouldn't be so much of a problem considering that you don't have to carry it around.

IBM may be good, but actually Compaq and toshiba laptops are also pretty good.
Have a look at them and see their specs to compare before buying.

Never liked IBM. Their notebook all same style..black colour, red mouse buttons. If u want ultra thin, try Toshiba Protege or Asus..but since ur in USA, maybe Compaq.

why never consider fujitsu? reliable, good, light and various selections...

fujitsu damn ex la.their good ones are like above 3k and they always give u internal graphics card which sucks big time.

Fujitsu not really laptop maker...compared to like Toshiba or Nec..their laptop normally targeted at the higher end market.

but my fujitsu really performs hardy...lasted me from 2001 - 2005. now screen tho cracked, i still use it by connecting to monitor... haiz.

they have strict quality control ma. On one test they open and close the notebook repeatedly about 5000-10,000 times. Also, Im sure u paid a premium on it anyway. i'm using a VAIO... it's pretty good...
but gotta get the high-end version, else it's just like any other notebook, just more expensive

eh sony vaio is damn chio but my fren using after 3 months got one problem liao. anyway sony is not really a laptop maker la.they just want to be bao ka liao in the electronics industry.

Remember hw sony wan ppl to buy their md player? I bought one..high end, top of the line version.. sound quality good, mdlp thing takes sum time to get used..but in the end return. They have tis crappy copyright mechanism. Then later Sony has an epiphany...that ppl like mp3..so they release mp3 player..aiyo..so expensive. Can buy ipod oledi. But on the other hand, have to give Sony credit for their playstation products.

Er I have heard bad news about Sony Vaio...one of my frens used it then the whole thing brokw down after a few months...and the service center damn bad..

i'm getting a lappie soon too....but mine is gonna b an Apple Ibook...its cheap, packed with features, looks great, ain't too big, ain't too heavy, and the best one of all, my Dad's footing the bill else...i may look at some other lappies...but now...who cares

my dad convinced me that the Mac OS is way easier to use than Windows...plus its more stable, plus it has lesser viruses after it. yeah.. i heard msc lappies are cool. if you're a graphics persn i guess it's more for you... and it's super user friendly. all you gotta do is get used to it.

Man..my PC crashed like twice this week...after I repaired it for the first time, it 'died' a few days later. And luckily I managed to 'revive' it and get out all my files to store them away. Then I reformatted my whole PC...reinstalled all the softwares and am now in the process of putting back all my files. Not easy when you have like 10GB of music videos and songs!
Abt the laptop, I think I will get one in September cos my big "allowance" will only come in around dat time

I am using an IBM Thinkpad. Office issued equipment which I keep at home to login to office in case of night calls. Have been using it for 6 years now. Very reliable. But yes...a bit heavy
.
