It is very common... alfagal will have a mode of management listed out for you... If it causes no harm, usually you can just ignore it, but if the cough is severe until you suffer from cough fracture of the ribs (tenderness over your chest), then a cough suppressant can be taken periodically to relieve your symptoms...Originally posted by CoolMyth:I do think that my cough is habitual too.

pple with synesthesia have extraodinary senses. they could include:

some call Synethesia: pple who can blend senses together.
reasons why they happen are still a mystery, though some studies have been made. E.g. of some of the reasons (not proven though):
1. through learning and conditioning: associating colour with visual stimuli, till it becomes a non-thinking situation (happens naturally)
2.somatosensory cortex (in e brain) that are v close to each other can affect one another. hence a so called false activation of other senses.
3. just like how the olfactor bulb (sense of smell) can triger of memories, e.g this stranger who is using a particular scent passes u, u regconize it and immediately reminds u of ur bf/gf. this analogy is used to explain pple with syntaesthesia - pple w other methods of triggering different senses. -

If there is any discharge, you should go to a doctor to rule out any perforated eardrums (tympanic membrane) because a localized infection may spread and these eventually will lead to bleeding...
If you feel there is just pain that is localized, then it is fine. Applying antiseptic cream would not help much as it is only for an open wound (ulcer), if there is no ulcer but polyps, the antiseptic cream cannot absorb into it... the only way is to drain the pus that is in there...
In this case, if it gets too big and uncomfortable, seeking a doctor's help (ENT specialist) to drain it would be a brilliant solution... -
Quoting myself, please keep your ear clean and dry at all times to prevent further spread of the infection... the polyps will eventually resolve...
