vendor sent mock-up of calendar of 2007 we're about to print for colleague to have a looksee...
so far, to the vendor:
February has 29 days
October has 30 days
November has 29 days
colleague is saying such things, the printers ought to check on their own first before coming to us -

now colleague ranting that trying to get Ministry of Education to get school holiday schedule of 2007, the answering system is stupid.. cannot get customer service officer...
i didn't help the situation by saying that maybe that's what they are trying to achieve
but actually, it's silly.. the answering system is ambigious... i found out and told her already...
muahahahahaha!
now she's ranting that no one picking up! -

so far, morning has been hilarious... because of rants by colleague.. first thing in the morning was because of clueless person from another section (higher ranking than us) sending his paper for "our vetting and approval" when we have nothing to do with the project...
we just helped him by giving him the usual specifications for things...
now suddenly he wants us to become the people to approve his project...
so, i asked: wah.. he's implying his boss useless one ah? -

1) public holidays
2) school holidays

nope.. each section has to do their own stuff...
we did our own posters for something doesn't mean suddenly become the "approving authority".. in fact, we all have to seek approval from the same person in Finance and the Big Boss...
the standard specs are there.. he just asked us coz he was too clueless to go look for it himself
well, opinion, he could have just asked us.. and not "seek approval" and some more, dare to cc the request to his boss!
i think he would have been kena buttered by his boss... probably in the same tone: "what? i your boss useless one ah? " -

approval needs to come from project engineers , or relevant repartments , then goes back down to the ppl that makes sure we meet specifications and etc etc then goes back up.. then down to the department head or project leader then goes back up to admin then to boss then GO or NO GO. pretty f*ked up man dun u think ? -

our is: we propose something.. immediate boss says yes/no
if yes, we go and ask Finance with estimated budget if got money or not... if no money, then abandon...
if have, just go gather the specs and write everything for approval, with budget, send to big boss...
if big boss says no, abandon..
if yes, go call Invitations to Quote or Tenders...
then proceed...
and they say we have red tape! -

But lately i was at SHELL to have a look at thier Globalistation management. they jsut changed theier entire management from top to bottom. like GSAP , IVR , b2b and VMI.
Few days there i realised that they have one of the most complex management. But due to it was newly introduced in July , still alot of flaws and bottlenecks... but i think big cmopanies should adopt some of thier management style lo.. -
