the haze is caused by farmers who burn forests deliberately issit??

as much as the little subsistence farmers burn, it'll not be as much as those who deny the loudest..
i would look at the paper and palm oil companies which clear the land for cultivation of paper pulp and palm oil trees...
in fact, i think the palm oil plantation owners are the main culprits as the paper pulp people can still clear the trees and use them for pulp.. but i wonder what they do about the undergrowth and unsuitable trees..
the lack of will to go after these people is probably the root cause of the smog.. heck! the one in indonesia who has the greatest stake in this burning and all that is indonesia's richest man, you think for one moment the gabrament there will go after the fella?
what can be done is drastic.. but it'll work.. find evidence that they have been burning.. then shut down the company, remove their license, confiscate ALL the assets of the company and confiscate ALL the assets of the owners of the company which came from the activities of the company.. do not sell off the company but break it up.. confiscate ALL the land and make it a national reserve and then nationalise that place.. reforest it with the indigenous plants and trees that made up that area..
in other words, hit the people who burn where it hurts the most..
but again, indonesia's richest man.. you think they'd do it?

no wonder maro complaining, PSI reading is the highest in sarawak-210...heard that the state going into emergency mode soon if it keeps going up
in JB it is 109 -
i think malaysia uses a different rating.. it's API or air pollution index or something..
the numbers are higher than the PSI..
not sure what is the usual rating used by everyone.. -

yeah.. i figured that out in 1997, when the API in KL was around 700 and the PSI was about 550 or something..
either way, it was insane at that time..
we've not learnt.. our politicians should be pressuring indonesia to do something but i guess they're all too gutless to say anything..
every year, we suffer the same thing.. and it's 10 years on already! -

yeah.. i remember that year.. sometimes, we could see the smog move in.. as in, like a layer moving in.. it was scary at that time..
worse still, at that time, there were news reports of people who were paid by big businesses to go out and burn down the forests..
which is why i suspect the big businesses are still doing it now -

i did a check.. the worse in 1997 was in Kuching.. API = 839 on 23/9/1997 and PSI = 978 for Riau on 27/7/1997
that year was insane because of the El Nino.. no rain and the forests were tinder dry... -
