Scenario:
A kid who has gastric flu doesn't wash his hands properly after going to the toilet. He places his hands on the table top.
Some other kids have their lunch later on the table.
You get the drift.
I myself came down with gastroenteritis a few weeks ago. It was terrible - I lost really large amounts of water from combined diarrhoea and vomitting. My weight dropped 2 kg in just 36 hours. -

Got it.
Came down with it when I was P5, but it turns out to be another form. The vomitting was severe though; I had no diarrhoea. Took 3 weeks to recover, and saw 3 different doctors which gave the same diagnosis but different medicines. -
