The mother of one of my former tuition students just called me. She said that her son was having a total dislike for his current tutor and was practically begging me to teach her son again. She offered to increase my pay and reduce the number of sessions to once per week.
However, I told her point-blank: no deal. The issue here isn't about the money; it's about my time and my personal health. As I already told her when I originally quit, my schedule is going to get really, really bad now that I'm going into the aeronautical specialisation.
Besides, teaching that kid is really bad for my health. Honestly. He doesn't seem to want to take things seriously at all and expects me to spoonfeed everything with little effort on his part. Heck, he could still play a fool the night before his exams.
It sure would be nice to have more pocket money, considering that my dad gives me little money and all my expenses come straight out of my pocket. But in the end, no amount of $$$$ can compensate for a increased stress and a more hectic schedule.
Sorry if I seem to be ranting a bit here.... the mom just doesn't seem to get what I'm saying to her. -

In all honesty, if that kid could just be better behaved and take his studies more seriously, I would have taken up the offer. i told them to do homework, when the class arrives when they are supposed to hand in hw, they rummaged thru their files and then giggled then laughed finally told me,"Sorry teacher, I didnt bring my hw."
Then in class got one student who is always absent then expect me to give him make up class whenever he wants it, until now i have to come with a memo to tell them that i m not giving anymore make up class, unless for some emergency situations or when the student is really sick. -
