Hmm, I think it's fine, but you won't be able to buy a lot of stuff though. Hotels are not cheap, even the budget ones cost 140RM or so... unless u know of youth lodges..Originally posted by fudgester:I'm thinking of going on a short backpacking trip to KL.
After looking at my account balance, I think I can set aside S$400 for the trip.
Comments?

got another class later...so now need to do a lot of markings
Well, I'm not really into shopping. Perhaps a couple of shirts for the new semester, that's all. And I'll be there for around three days.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Hmm, I think it's fine, but you won't be able to buy a lot of stuff though. sumtimes those really cheap places can be real creepyOriginally posted by fudgester:Well, I'm not really into shopping. Perhaps a couple of shirts for the new semester, that's all. And I'll be there for around three days.
I've been looking at some youth and backpacker hostels in KL on the web. Their prices are pretty reasonable - I can get a pretty decent place for US$8 per night.
I'm just wondering if there are any hidden costs.

my frens stayed in a very cheap hostel and the next day she moved out cos she said she cant stand the creepiness
best thing is of cos if u can find someone who is staying there and bunk in for a few days...or get some frens to join you then all squeeze into a decent hotel room
hmm any frens who are planning to travel there as well? It is a bit unsafe to travel there alone leh, unless you are already very familiar with the place...Originally posted by fudgester:Well, I've been looking at the list of backpacker hostels here:

They've got pix of the living conditions there, and some look pretty good. I've also checked out the reviews of some of the hostels on other backpacking sites, and I've pretty much narrowed down to the Pujangga Homestay and Equator Hostel.... if I do want to go to KL, of course.
I'm still a little undecided on whether or not I should go.
Nope. I'm planning to go alone.Originally posted by rainee:hmm any frens who are planning to travel there as well? It is a bit unsafe to travel there alone leh, unless you are already very familiar with the place...
alrite...Originally posted by fudgester:Nope. I'm planning to go alone.
I want to gain some experience in travelling alone. The way I see it, sooner or later I'm going to have to travel alone anyway. There's a first time for everything.
