The government handouts are only part of the problem. A lot of it has to do with the Malay mentality of 'tidak apa' ('it doesn't matter'). That's why I say that being spoonfed on government handouts is only part of the problem. Singapore Malays who don't get those handouts get exactly the same problem of mediocrity.

I don't look down on Malaysian Malays, and neither do I hold Singapore Malays in high esteem. There are both success stories and dysfunctional failures in the Malay race regardless of what nationality they hold. That said, to put it bluntly, I look down on Malays (be it SG or MY) who think that the world owes them a living and laze on their asses while they wait for the world to give it to them. They are the ones who give the Malay race a really bad name. -
