One of the things which I see is whether the company views the employee as a professional or cheap labor. Like for me for example, a client wants a 20page website with logo design but only willing to pay $300, I'll do that job but the effort will be worth to $300 worth. It's not that I'm not up to standard, it's more of whether the client respect me as a professional. I'll earn like practically nothing if I slogged like 20-30hours just to earn $300 (not excluding the transport fees and time which I take to meet the client and discussions). Go tell a doctor say cut his consultation fees to $2-3 since in most cases it only takes 3-5mins of consultation.
Loyalty to company only comes when the employer treats the employee well. How can someone be loyal to a company unless that company did something that makes him or her feel 'indebted' to the company for the job?
For my dear rainee's case, I find that her present company is undercutting her wor. Her workload currently clearly deserves a salary increase, with her heading 2 courses in the company currently. -

OF course u claim the reward. U not gonna sit there idle while other ppl take ur credit. Thast when u sabo them. n kiss ass with the bosses. Cause if u dont do it , others will anyways. But my point is, see if the company can give u potential. sometimes they testing you. Cause they know lots of new ppl just wanna come in get exp n leave. So u cant blame them being more aware about thier HR going to other places using them as stepping stones man. -

You also have to understand the company's situation ma. Maybe rainee's company is viewing her as cheap labor. I know of graduate engineers working for 1.2 to 1.5 k starting salary at big consultant companies and getting thier @ss squeezed so badly. I got talk to the managers before n they say its because turn over , high . THey leave after a year working or so getting experience etc etc , so they not so keen on the pay increase yet. N they know the market got lots of graduates so they just wait it out see who stays who leaves then decides. Ask not what your company can do for u , but what U can do for ur company. mmm... wait.. sounds familiar.. I understand your situation in client. Pay peanuts n u get monkeys. But how much is the justifiable amount ? In your case , you know , because u are in control of your working environment and in a 1 to 1 basis to ur client. But she is under a company o. I not trying to say anything la, maybe her company really squeezing her @ss, but i am just explaining on her interview why they would react the way they did ah.
OR! Bring them to industrial court.. sue thier @ss. Nowadays employees are more protected and i give u a 90% chance of winning her case. Exercise her rights n SUE THIER BALLS OFF!

but do feel like i m getting too little...but dunno if i shud ask for increment now or not...or wait until july when my students oledi got back their exam results...hopefully the results will be good then at least got something to back up my demand for a payraise... -

ask for a pay that is tempting enough to stay in msia.
A friend working in Kl is a fresh diploma grad in finance/accouting. Earning around 3k a month. After 3 months, she went to ask for pay rise for $4250 and she got it.
I guess if you are willing to take the risk and have the guts to, the rewards are sweet
