yah!!! the heat is also getting to me. and that's saying something. cos i've always prefered warmer temperatures than colder.Originally posted by the Bear:dying of heat
going to look for things to eat and something cold to drink
dang!! i can't say "omg, new crapper!"Originally posted by mystiv:omg, new crapbox!
Why? What happened?Originally posted by starblue:anyway, i'm currently feeling kinda pissed and a deep sense of injustice.
for one of my modules, the forum participation stands for 10%. which when you think about it, can be a determining factor on whether you get an A- or a B+.Originally posted by fudgester:Why? What happened?
when it is graded??? in my experience, the forums that are not graded will have very little posts. but for graded ones will have all sorts of rubbish. not really for showing-off. cos we really need to proof that we're doing our own thinking and research. but apparently, some are not. and i dunno if they are getting marks for that.Originally posted by LazerLordz:In my experience, the IVLE forum is a place for show-offs to yak till daybreak.

so i always treated my posting very seriously. i read through every one of the other responses. thought about the issues carefully. did online research for answers before posting. but when i read some of the answers, they are really like crap.
some totally out of point. (we were talking about female menstrual cycles go insync when females live together due to pheromones. he went to talk about how corals and clams are different. OBVIOUSLY!!! they dun even have menstrual cycle and pheromones to speak of. NOT TO MENTION THAT THEY AREN'T EVEN MAMMALS!!! HECK!! OR EVEN VERTEBRATES!!!!!!!!!!! how can you include and compare?)
some contradicts even the simplest facts (one dude said most molecules in our body are right-handed. come on man, you go google for handedness of biological molecules will also know is left)
a lot of posts have highly repeated points from other posts. it's either they dun read other responses before making their own (just for the participation marks), or they read but just copy their points and rephrase, not bothering to think constructively.
liddat is how? do we get the same marks based on participation???
quietly inform?Originally posted by starblue:when it is graded??? in my experience, the forums that are not graded will have very little posts. but for graded ones will have all sorts of rubbish. not really for showing-off. cos we really need to proof that we're doing our own thinking and research. but apparently, some are not. and i dunno if they are getting marks for that.
i feel like emailing my prof about this. should i?? he's coincidentally my supervisor for the urops project.
Yeah, most of my modules have forum participation. But generally, all I do see is people posting for the sake of it.Originally posted by starblue:when it is graded??? in my experience, the forums that are not graded will have very little posts. but for graded ones will have all sorts of rubbish. not really for showing-off. cos we really need to proof that we're doing our own thinking and research. but apparently, some are not. and i dunno if they are getting marks for that.

that's what we're discussing. but the how part is easy. they found that females (and males) produce chemicals called pheromones. females living closely together (or even just work together) are subconsciously picking up these chemicals and this is affecting their menstrual cycles so that they become in sync. which means in 5 months, they will menstruate within 4 days of each other.Originally posted by seow:hmm...
For real?
I mean the menstrual cycle part, how the heck?
yah lah. that's why i feel kinda cheated. if liddat then why for i put in so much effort for?Originally posted by LazerLordz:Yeah, most of my modules have forum participation. But generally, all I do see is people posting for the sake of it.
Seriously, you think they have the time to vet your posts? What I've heard is that as long as you are in the discussion, you're considered to have participated.
so i guess i will be doing most of the cooking ?Originally posted by starblue:simple fare. but i seldom cook. cooking is such a laborious and tedious affair.

as to why this trait evolved in humans, we're discussing it actively in the forum.

but your side is scientific, so it's different and less subjective than let's say, a module dealing with film aesthetics..Originally posted by starblue:yah lah. that's why i feel kinda cheated. if liddat then why for i put in so much effort for?
yup.. i was reading about that. that prompted me to start a topic about the evolution of this phenomenon. so very interesting!! it's really true you know?? my mum's and i menstruate within 4 days of each other. o.OOriginally posted by BadzMaro:i read about this...
lol!
Wa, then at that time won't you all be shouting each other's heads off?Originally posted by starblue:yup.. i was reading about that. that prompted me to start a topic about the evolution of this phenomenon. so very interesting!! it's really true you know?? my mum's and i menstruate within 4 days of each other. o.O
i really hope the profs and TA really go read the replies and check the quality of the posts before grading loh....Originally posted by LazerLordz:but your side is scientific, so it's different and less subjective than let's say, a module dealing with film aesthetics..
firstly, by "at that time", do you mean during menstruation? before i'll have you know that the moodiness is a feature of PRE-menstrual syndrom. so should be "before that time of the month".Originally posted by seow:Wa, then at that time won't you all be shouting each other's heads off?
oh...Originally posted by starblue:firstly, by "at that time", do you mean during menstruation? before i'll have you know that the moodiness is a feature of PRE-menstrual syndrom. so should be "before that time of the month".
and no. we try to stay out of anybody's way when we feel moody. besides, i only feel more irritable some of the times nia... not every month have mood swings one.
