Looks like the tracing of users started from 1999, after a user was hacked. This time, we have no doubts who leaked the info to RIAS already.
All ISP, including MHA is part of the tracking team. -

But this kind of scanning is different, they are port scanning our PCs. Very bad... port scanning is used by hackers to attack users, since Singnet port scans us, they probably know which PCs are vulnerable...
Anyway, Singapore has no privacy... -

Port scanning? they been doing it all the while .. no surprises there .. the thing is, i dont think this is the "correct" course of action .. perhaps, more like a filler to keep everyone happy - the producers see action against piracy being taken but yet, there is no mass scale punishment to the masses .. or rather, at the rate that we're going, i see no reason why they need to be so "against" this form of technology. in fact, im rather surprised that these producers have not taken this into account and yet, continue to procastinate about this problem .. especially when we all face bigger threats around the world today ..

Port scanning can tell what ports are opened or closed, therefore, revealing the type of operating system or programs in use.
For example, when you connect to the Net, it automatically uses port 80. It's the default port. If you have set your firewall to prompt you each time, take a closer look at the prompt. It will say XXX program attempting connection to www.whatever.com port 80.
Port 80 is too common, so it makes no sense scanning it.
But what if you have something like port 6346 opened? It gives clue that a P2P program is in use. Specifically Shareaza. Shareaza uses this port by default. So if you are using Shareaza, this port will be open and when Singnet does a scan, Singnet will know you are using P2P. -
