Like a drug addict, some people crave for this chemical and hope to get it even when they are out of a relationship hence they will go for a rebound.
The high will last as long as you don't get enough stress or depression from the relationship.
Like in basketball, rebounds are not preferred unless you can score with it. -

most rebounds happens cos the person is looking for a replacement..or biologically, to be able to get e stimulus to keep the 'being in love' feeling. some pple typically fall in and out of love v quickly cos they cant do without being in a r.s
yes it can happen to any one....
read somewhere that its more susceptible to guys..(well, no hard evidence though guys- its just how the different gender wld do to handle a break up)
feelings are hard to measure...for how long? depends on how hard u fall on the person. some pple i know, do stay together as a couple for more than a yr although it was v obvious that either one of e party doesnt love e other at all.... others, rebounds doesnt take too long to see the end of the r.s
nv been on a rebound before..but i guess, if v quickly, you forget about ur ex becos of the existence of the present rebound..then maybe u r..
there are no hard n fast rules on how to prevent.
its knowing wat you really want at the end of the day.
e.g if you know u are feeling v bad now due to the break up, and going for the next best alternative doesnt solve the problem y go for it?
again there is no absolute ans to issit good or bad.
who knows, you might meet your soul partner in a rebound?
but you cld also be on yr way to another heartbreaking moment?
how much time did you give yrself to know e 'new' person better?
why waste your precious time and effort on e person who is a 'fake' bf/gf, whereby you can use it for a more fulfilling life?
what will your friends, family think about you?
these things will affect ur self confidence and esteem to a certain extent isnt it?

Personally... I think many people are talking about 'rebound' because it's a more popular subject related with love these days.... 'Rebound' though could be... Might not really be appropriate to be termed as a 'state', but more appropriately as a 'level'....
Somehow when one falls out of a relationship... Unless the person is really 'numb' to the feel, experienced / seasoned or a really cheerful and optimestic type... Chances are, that person would feel a different level of 'partial rebound'.... In a more general way to speak... These are just experiences which might change, term and condition us just like our other activities...
If we really have to put 'rebound' as a form of state... Then perhaps it would be better to term it as state whereby the level of rebound has already exceeded the limit and is actually causing (abnormal) hindrance in the development of the next relationship (psychological sense). Of course, most people would need time to recover from a previous failed relationship if it affect them to an extent....
I'm mentioning this because just like the term 'depression' which is getting more and more widely recognised... Somehow it seems that this term is also often being wrongly used and as time goes... Seems to be more and more vague....?
