Yes school is safe. Make mistakes, people laugh at you, make fun of you, so what. No big deal.
At work, make a mistake, consequences could be disastrous. Even if not disastrous, your 'enemy' might use it against you. Your boss, if biased against you, will blow the mistake out of proportion.
Back-stabbing is very real.
