take masters or not?
i'm like an indecisive pendulum regarding this matter, swinging from "i wanna go work and earn money" to "hell, why not take masters since i can" depending on my moods. i cannot make up my mind.
the dateline for the application is end of this month. i have been running and there to get the various documents necessary for the application, and this is making me lean towards taking a masters.
but i remember just a few days ago, i was so sure i want to go out to work after graduation....
piangz... liddat is how?
pple, can help me list the pros and cons, and reasons why i should or should not take a masters?
ask urself, wat do u relli want?
why do you want to take masters?
Will it help you in your future career?
or is it an escape from working life?
For me, the first question was:
"Am I good enough to take masters?"
I decided I was not good enough and thus went out to work.
You have to decide for yourself.
Now or never. wait.. u still young.. can still wait a while. N clear your head first.
you guys are not much help..... you think i havent asked myself what i really want? the problem is i dunno what i wanna do after graduation mah. that's why i need to hear from you guys the pros and cons of taking up a masters degree....
-____-""
that's the big question.. what do you want out of it?
i thought of it once.. it was (lots of cynics will laugh) to increase and deepen my knowledge.. i really wanted to learn more...
then after research into a lot of the courses, i saw that the MBAs were basically nonsense.. they don't teach you much other than more theory which is so totally flawed from the start...
so i didn't..
saved myself a lot of braincells, a whole wad of cash and time..
also, what Masters course are you going for?
mine was Business Administration which i can find by reading Dilbert..

It's precisely because you dun know what you wanna do, that you have to seriously think of what you want to achieve.
You are still young. You can afford to take masters. For me, i have already wasted 2.5 years of my life to NS. I think i am going out to work first. I am quite sick of studying already.
Masters at nus just need a cap of 3.0 (average B-). Quite easy to attain i would say.
Yes u should.

if i go for masters, or phd (i'm even considering this now) of cos is do life science lah... work in the same lab that i have been in for 1.5 years le...
can someone help me find out what is the current stipends for the masters course for research grant or some sht. i keep getting different figures when i ask around.
anyway, my parents, and my brothers they all are encouraging me to take phd if that is really what i want. i guess now the only thing is that i am unsure if i am cut out for research work... my FYP is making me feel very research-incompetent....
