New Toyota Avanza

  Hi all,
  
  First time posting here. Just got my friend from malaysia email me saying that the latest toyota MPV Avanza (1.3L) was just launched in Malaysia a a price of around RM58k. Convert that to SGD and it is around SGD 27k. Add another COE of $23k and this small MPV only cost ~SGD50k! I know the cost is cheap cos made in Indonesia but the price is still a bargain for a Toyoya car with VVTI engine.
  Anybody got any comment?

  but i heard from my fren that its the replacement of Starlet....

  That is good news. Hope Toyota bring in cheap cars with more space than Vios. Somehow, I think Singapore Toyota distributor will charge more than Malaysian counterparts.

  I totally agree with the Vios size problem. I was also attracted by the price tag but the size really became a problem cos am thinking of buying a car for family reasons. Furthermore, I quite big size one so cannot lor.
  I hope singapore won't charge too much more. Could it become like toyota wish where people just parallel import it?

  Hi Georgie32. I am holding back my intention to get VIOS because it is not going to last me more than 1 year when my family get bigger. I feel very caged up sitting at the back of VIOS compared to normal sedan cars of the same price range. This makes me consider other brand/models.

  Avanza is not a replacement of Starlet. It is a 7 seater with 1.3 litre engine.
  Avanza and Unser are from Indonesia and lots of Thai parts.
  Unser in Indonesia call Kijang.

  No....
  Kijang is Unser..... this model only available at Indonesia and Malaysia(do not know whether Philippines or Thai has it), interior are economical and engine is 1.8l. Its a van or rather small lorry engine and quite rough.
  Lancruiser are different and much higher class which at 2.6 liter and above.
  New landcruiser oppose to Landcruiser or Landcruiser II are called Toyota Landcruiser PRADO, in short Toyota Prado.

  Currently is unser sold by parallel importer only? Don't seem to find this model in the official toyota.com.sg website. Is it too low a model to be sold to be included in their showroom? If so, do you think that now armed with a VVTI engine, it would be included.
  
  BTW, hurray for the new COE low!!! (Not that I can afford a car but dream getting a bit closer)

  As i said Unser/KIjang 1.8 is only available on Indo and M'sia and it is a van or lorry engine with no VVT-i and the FC was like 10 ~ 12km/l
  If you are talking about Avanza 1.3, there is vvt-i but the engine model is strange compare to other.... makes ppl wonder if the engine was Toyota Jap made?
