Driving to Europe is physically possible, but the main difficulty is getting across to Europe. There are a few unfriendly countries from Thailand onwards which makes this journey difficult, politically. Road condition may be lousy too. Even in Thailand, southern Thailand is not a safe place to drive through.

3 countries borders Thailand up north - Burma, Laos and Cambodia - none of which are friendly to people entering their country. You can forget about Burma, only accompanied tourist are allowed. Laos is equally bad if I remember correctly. Cambodia might be a possible route, then you will have to pass through Vietnam followed by China.
China onwards, things may get wilder, possible routes are Kazakhstan, Kyroyzstan, Talistan, Pakistan - none of which are friendly. Bandits are not uncommon in those places I heard. Best bet might be Pakistan, but it leads to either Afghanistan or Iran. Neither of which is a country you would want to pass through. But then, no matter which route you choose, you have to eventually pass through either Russia or Iran. If you can survive that far, the rest of the journey would be peanuts.
Essentially, the problems are
(1) Getting a visa to enter a number of the countries enroute
(2) Some countries are highly unsafe with bandits along the way
Those are the main two. Of course there are others, but I think the rest are minor compared to the above two. -
For southern Thailand, just read the news. Muslims in Southern Thailand had a few clashes with the government troop over there recently. And if I remember correctly, it is still under military curfew at the moment - meaning no move about after a certain time. well then do you think these countries would be more politically stable in a few years? What if you don't stop at all for certain countries and instead drive right through them? Is it possible to let's say drive through Myanmar(Burma) without stopping?
Is Kazakhstan & Russia politically stable at this point in time? When you say accompanied tourist.. What do you mean? You mean I have to have a local accompany me through the country
Also, is it possible to remove the speed limiter on the vehicle. Like when leaving singapore and installing back when getting back to singapore (IF I make it back in the first place). If you were to inform the Singapore embassies that are along the way.. Do you think that'll help? -
You only live once.. So why not? It's one heck of a challenge! Plus.. It'll be damn cool to be the only SXX 1234 X plate in europe.. But that's a lousy reason.. Most importantly.. You get to see a huge part of Asia, see all the different countries, and learn a lot! That is.. Whether you can drive though them may not help you at all here. Because if they allow you to drive through, then it may not matter much if it takes one or two days to them. The big issue is between allow and not allow.
When I say accompanied tourist, I mean a tour group organized by the goverment of Burma, staying in places where they want to stay (with a considerable $$$) and going where they want you to go. Don't expect to be allow to move around freely and in any direction that you want. As far as I am aware of, there are still resistance to the burmese government in some parts of the country and I bet they do not care about any government rules or regulations.
For the vehicle part, you got to ask other people. I am not aware of any speed limiter on cars.
Also, a few years back, there was a Singaporean couple who made a cycling trip from Singapore to Europe (or the other way round, I forgot). I believe they have valuable experience to share. You might want to find a way to contact them. I remember there was even a dedicated website for them back then. I do believe one of the reason why they choose bicycle is exactly because that is easier to get approvel to enter different countries than a car. And from the sound of it, you are thinking of using a good car. In that case, I will bet that it will be lost or confiscated in a short time. -

As for driving further than Thailand, I do not know if anyone has done it. But I believe it has been done. -
Driving beyond Thailand sounds fun ... if any i mean any one here is thinking or organising it .. i am in! count me in!
I have planned this before and also had a few friends up north and further north, Getting pass Thailand and Vietnam is easy. People from Viet used to drive to Malaysia last time ... but trips like that need convoy and mechanics and largely sponsers!
Here is what me and my friends arrived at
1. Money. Petrol and spareparts, lodging and etc
2. Manpower. Mechanics and such
3. Team or convoy. Driving as a team builds confidence and security
4. Permits. To Pass Vietnam and Cambodia
5. SUVs. Pass tough roads and floods, drove before in Vietnam .. there are bad floods when rain, esp the rural areas
6. Tires. That is what will keep your cost high
and last but not least.
7. A aim or objective to be there in the first place! -

Land Rover will be a good vehicle, especially the Defender (similar to the ones driven by the Army and Police). Diesel engine and not a fuel-guzzler superb for rough terrain.

If u r interested there will be a India Rally in December,which will continue to Myanmar, Laos, Vitenam, Cambodia, Thailand,Malaysia, Singapore to Indonesia . The enitire race which is starting from India & ending in Batam. The entire race is going to last for 3 weeks

directions-wise.. if got the cash.. easily can get GPS in the car.. that would more or less settle the directions problem.. and of course hard-copy maps should the GPS fail.. don't think anyone can noe the entire way from singapore to past thailand that clearly.
so seriously.. is there no one who drove further than penang?
