Lancer 1.6 AT (CVT) vs MT

Hi folks,
Anyone driving either of the above? I've tested the CVT version, and I'm torn between the two. Need some opinions on:
1) CVT feels a bit underpowered, although @ 106 bhp and 1.6l? is it something to do with the CVT transmission technology, or issit the car in general? The car feels like it "doesn't really wanna move"?
2) personally, i prefer to drive MT. more control and feels more like i'm driving a car. AT feels.....funny. Of cos in city driving like Singapore, it makes more sense to drive an AT. Muscle cramps in traffic jams swings the vote too.
3) is it true that, all things being equal (no beng modifications, no excessive revving etc), an AT generally consumes more fuel than a MT?
4) for resale value, will an AT car fetch a higher price than a MT car, in general?

I'm driving the Lancer 1.6 MT... good to drive... and easy on the pocket too..last week, I clocked 374km on 23 litres of fuel...which works out to be around 16km/l of petrol consumption... not sure abt the CVT though...

for CVT is tat
when u wanna accelerate, u press harder first then release for 1/2 a sec or so..then press again..
i think it cant really change the gear ratios when yr foot's on the pedal -
i m currently driving a lancer 1.6 manual sports n i shd say it is certainly better than the cvt.u have more control over the power n acceleration.its shifting is smooth n the doen thing is that it can be noisy at higher revs.i have also heard that cvt engine have been a prob n not up to date.well after i bot e lancer i m quite suprised to see more lancers on the road mayb due to e low car prices.i m still runnin in my car so have not fully explored it yet but i m happy with its looks n performance so far.[/img]

in my opinion, CVT cars are all underpowered 1 lah,as compared to normal AT gears or MT gears. What i heard from my friend, if u rev too much using a CVT car, very soon ur car will up lorry liao..
and what i feel that,driving a cvt car won't gives u a kick of driving a car..u won't be able to hear the sound of the gears changing...dun have that "special" feeling..

my sentiments exactly. AT (esp. the CVT version i tested) tak shiok. feels like playing arcade daytona.
don't really know the exact CVT technology, but i read somewhere that its supposed to optimise performance, reduce lag time between gears, and ensure minimum transmission loss. guess I'll give all tat a miss by going manual, as MT feels more like driving a real car to me.

CVT does have lag time too..but it is a fraction of a second.
doesn't matter lah..anyway,conclusion is that CVT sucks.If it is so good,why now still got so little cars uses the CVT technology for their AT versions?

actually, correct me if i'm wrong, but quite a bit of manufacturers of AT switched to CVT liao. Nissan Sunny AT (CVTC), peugoet (spell?). I'm not sure on this one, but Honda Jazz AT is CVT also right? I know Civic is defi. not CVT, and also all of Toyotas.
CVT tak shiok. Maybe it'll appeal to normal day-to-day drivers who need minimim fuss to travel from A to B. Feels very sluggish and underpowered.

only 1 type of sunny uses CVT..the rest dun have mah..toyota dun use CVT..one of my friend's pegeuot 206 like dun have CVT..cos i could feel the gears changing and the rpm meter drop..hehe
well..Those AT cars with 3 D(s), they are not CVT 1..that's what i am told lah.
So for those out there thinking to get a CVT car like the lancer glx or audi..erm..think twice..seriously..do alot of homework 1st..hehee.. -
arr...yes. guess i din make myself clear. My "all of toyotas" was meant to continue the preceding statement, meaning civic is not CVT, and also all of toyotas (are also not CVT).
they use something called the VVTi, wat with the sheep outrunning the horses in the TVC? dunno wat it is, but i'm sure its gotta be better than CVT!!
