how much is the getz or aveo?
whats the breakdown in terms of costs if i buy de picanto?
like how much for down payment and monthly ?

I am also a new/first-time buyer planning to get a small car.
Can't help you much but at least I can tell you the price of the 2 cars.
Getz is about 51888(1.3)-57888(1.6), depending on the engine CC and the number of doors it have. Can get its latest price from their website http://singapore.hyundai-motor.com/
Aveo is 57K++ for auto. Add 2k and they will throw in leather, 5 disc changer in front, sport rims and types. Manual going at 3k less. -
getz is about $52,888

Since you are interested in Picanto, there is a roadshow in Tampines now.
Picanto going at 43999. Details not very sure.
However they don't have one for display.
Can go now to ask about the package and stuff.
Usually it is cheaper at roadshow, so you might want to have a look.
The roadshow is in Century Square beside Tampines MRT station.

i'm having this crazy idea about cheap cars, so maybe someone can enlighten me..
i'm paying $900+ for my installment, and about $250++ for petrol for a 1.6litre car...
was thinking, is it stupid to get 2 picantos or peroduas to replace it?
reasons being my family member needs to use the car quite often too...
if i take a 10years loan, i figure that the monthly installment for BOTH cars shld be ard the same as what i'm paying now for that one car...
of cos, for the road tax, both added together will be slightly higher than what i'm paying for ($480+)...
then the insurance will be twice the amount...
parking cost being out of the picture, what do you people think?
we DO need more than one car if possible...

Swift is also quite high for my budget, but I heard the "swift" series had been quite reliable, so do give it a test-drive went it is out in the show room. Should be after the motorshow.
Picanto, it is cheap and cute looking. But the idea of it being a korean made does makes me avoid it. So is Getz. Anyway, seem you seems to be able to afford it, Getz would be a much better choice. Result is Getz had being getting tons of good review from the foreign reviewer. The specs and price seems to be everyone's first choices. My friend test-driven Getz 1.6(Auto, 56K), it has to much more thing than Getz 1.3(Auto). My friend is quite please with its performance. Too bad he wanted a manual, so have to wait for one to test drive.
Lastly Aveo, everyone I asked to test-drive it said it isn't that good. However I feel that it seems OK. Anyway this is the only car I test-driven so far (manual). Gas a little sluggish, but speed picks up well at the 3rd gear. The handling seems eletronic, as in not much feel. But for me I like the looks and these things I don't ready bother that much now. Maybe after I test out other cars, then I can comment better.
Anyway, test drive is still the best way to find out, after you sort out your financials. And of course find out which maker is reliable or if you are willing to make the risk. -

N heard than w WEC isn't worth much buying. ANy comments? cos i feel that i only need it at nite and maybe the wkends. And how abt the maintainence wise?? is it lower than Getz?? -

seriously, there is no justification for me to get a car. me got straight bus to town. plus it will only costs me about $6-7 bucks by cab to get home. however, cant resist the freedom of getting a car. so! that's why want to get a small car to zip around n do like the picanto coz its small n v economical.

Now the deal is so good that I almost bought it.
Still don't want to risk my money with a korean car.

hey twinkle, i'm facing the same situation as you too! my office is so near my workplace, only 2 mrt stops away, but i guess the price of cars now is too tempting thats why im thinking of getting one. have exactly the same choices as you.. i think picanto is really not that fantastic, test drive it before. The engine is too noisy and it has very little power.. only 1.1L. so i gave up on that.
More keen on swift now, waiting to test drive it the first week of dec. looks nice, a jap car n seems reliable. price abit steep tho.
why arent you considering vios? 60K ..i think its value for money, jus not very keen with the overall design, too common-looking. -

??? Sorry if I got you wrongly, did you say Aveo is as small as Picanto? Anyway, the front seats are spacious and the rear can fit in 3 middle sized ladies with much comfort. 3 man can squeeze in too, but on a shoulder to shoulder seating. A little like Vios.
Picanto, 2 man is all you can put in the rear. Ladies might have to squeeze behind. Front seat, for manual, touching the passenger's thigh would be inevitable. The front storage compartment can't open fully with a front passenger seated.
You must really go and see those cars with your own eyes. Aveo was actually commented for its decent space, losing to Getz only because of its design of the boot. Seems to affect the size of the item you can place in the boot. -
picanto is a good buy now wif the price around 43k. very nice colours. good fuel consumption. cheap spares.. cnc dealership=trustworthy... no regrets.... korean technology compared to kelisa.... compared to ........ hahaha
cheap car.. gd fc... easy to drive.... what more to ask ??? ask ur pocketlah.... -
Hi Guys, I'm considering yo buy the Picanto as i wanna downsize my Nissan. Does anyone knows how the fuel consumption is like for the Picanto? Is it like Nissan or more like Toyota. Nissan is a big eater ya. I would need the car to travel alot as i work in Jurong and stay in Pasir Ris!~ Any advice?

I am one of the Picanto owner. So far no major problems with my car.
Basically, it is a very basic car with quite smooth engine if you do not ram it.
My fuel consumption is one of the highest due having bigger rims and soundproofing.I am getting average of 14km/l. Best consumption is 15.5km/l.But most of the Picanto owner can get average of 15km/l and above.
100km/h ? No problem man. Once at cruise speed, the car is quite stable and still can push further. Picanto owner in Malaysia ever push it up to a speed of 170km/h.
As I have said no major problems. But for some rattle sound here and there are not always avoidable.If you lucky you get one well assemble. As for my Pica rattle on my forward pax door, but still ok. -

Hows the fuel consumption
Fuel consumption for pica is good, if driving leisurely with windows open can achieve 21km/l, with aircon on 18 to 19km/l. If fast and furious type can achieve 17 to 18 km/l. I monitored my FC for my first 6 pumps, 2 times before 1000km, 2 times after 1000km, 2 times driving fast with aircon on.
Full tank cost.
Full tank depending on what petrol u pump, I pump 95 cost me abt $42 with discount. Now pump Vpower cost abt $46 but can last longer and more power.
Can it achieve 100km/h without any difficulty?
It can definitely reach 100km/l with no difficulty.

Until now there is no maintenance problem for my pica, whether it is lasting depend on how u maintain the car, if u take care of the car sure it can last, but if u abuse it, of cos it won't last.
