Maybe sunny spare parts easier to get, but i think they think the main reason it that when they buy the car, they speculate that it is the best time to buy the car, since it is the time when car prices drop to a very low level.
As for auto heavy drinker and manual light drinker, i am not too sure , but after I have driven the FL NS (the one with CVTC and E-throttle), I find the gearbox too responsive, changing gear when not necessary which lead to the higher fc. Go up gentle slope travelling ard 80kmh on expressway also need to change third gear...haizz

Can anyone explain what CVTC engine and ETC are about? I know previously NS is only VTC engine... What is the different? FC improvement purpose or....

CVTC cannot be controlled like VTEC. It is a continuous variable adjustment unlike VTEC which is either on or off. CVTC improves overall engine performance by supplying Constant Valve Timing Control through all operating conditions. The crankshaft position, camshaft position, engine speed, and engine coolant temperature input signals are sent to the ECU. The ECU sends a variable duty cycle to a pulse width modulated solenoid that works like an injector. By adjusting and directing the amount of oil pumped into the CVTC's chambers and allowed to drain back into the engine, the ECU controls the retard or advance of the cam up to 30 crank degrees (vs. 14 degrees on the older VTC motors). The cam is retarded at idle to create a smoother idle and decrease emissions, advanced in the mid range to increase breathing, and retarded at high rpm to increase peak horsepower and fuel efficiency. VTEC is like having a stock cam at low rpm and a race cam at high rpm. At high rpm, the VTEC solenoid opens to allow oil from the oil pump to flow to a piston in the rocker arm. This piston engages a lost motion rocker in an extra intake cam, locking it to the two rockers that control both intake valves. The intake valve on this second cam profile remains open longer which increases breathing. A VTEC controller interprets the MAP sensor signal, throttle position and rpm to activate the VTEC solenoid at the user's specified rpm. It can also add fuel by intercepting the MAP sensor signal and tricking the ECU into thinking the engine is flowing more air

E-throttle is like removing majority of the mechanical parts and replaced with digital technology. Very responsive accelerator pedal. This technology has been around for some time in bigger cc car category, and i think it should be matured now

you will not believe this. my fc yestrday was 14.8. i put half bottle of redex into the petrol tank. first tank no effect. second tank from 13.2 ( i drive manual) per liter to about 14.0, third tank 14.8. if you cannot find redex call me. i have twenty bottles. very impressed with it. one bottle is supposed to last five full tanks but i don't care.
note: sunny fuel tank is 50 liter, fuel warning come on at empty mark at 40 liter always. pump at red light, about 450 mobil to 520 shell, very low on the E mark. still actually 10 l left.
i took out the spare tyre and tools a long time ago. also, synthetic oil, full, power.
my mileage until now is 28,000, april car- engine very powerful. my 14.8 per liter is high speed, above 110 most times, a lot urban 30%. nothing special like john taylor. email me at runnbike@hotmail.com, pass you a bottle. but not good for turbo charged cars, don't pass around. also MPV with seven adults. both have very high load, any additive may disrupt fuel property at that temperature.
the sunny manual is a real sports car. don't modify the tires or rim or engine. very high torque- father keep rev at 5000 from first through fifth. a lot of reserve power.
check the 'Torque' magazine. sunny BHP per tonne is highest 98.4 per tonne, beat honda civic 1.5 and 1.6, bhp per tonne lowest for subaru impreza. mazda 3 also very low. but stress: manual gearbox. the auto is not a four or five or six or seven speed auto i think. so not fantastic.
compare sunny and corolla. if FC is say 11 km for sunny, 12 km for corolla for example. 1 km difference. 1 liter 98 at 1.50. about 12 cents lost per litre. 1 month pump 7 times full tank (7 times forty liters 280 litres) wastage 280 times 12 cents is 30 dollars. per month, per year 360, per five years 2000 dollars. difference in price for sunny and corolla greater tahn 8000, before interest. savings of 6000 operating cost.
buy the sunny. very good car. make sure choose manufactured in 2005 and put yourself in waiting list, don't take older stock. check manufacturer certificate. -

anyway, if anyone is intending to get a sunny, personally i would advise to go for a auto one, due to the fact the customer base sunny is targetting, which would dictates your resale value too. -

Personally I think NS FC is not that bad. People have preference for car and they severly down play the other cars especially the direct competitor.
FC is very much subjective. All depends on the driver. If he/she wants to pull out from parking position fast with high revs. of course the FC is poor. Also if on the highway I have seen drivers think they can save petrol by pump and release...pump and release the accelerator making the whole car jerk like crazy. Pathetic attempt to save fuel leads to higher FC. Just drive normally and not like a maniac. Accelerate gradually and try to keep at a constant speed on highway.
As for power, what power one wants. Can they really tell the difference between in power the toyota and sunny. Singapore is such a small place and a relatively flat island don't think that a slighly higher power will make a large difference unless one wants to drive up Mount Faber everyday.
So, unlike other country where cars are so much cheaper, unless one have money to burn, go for where your budget can take you. I have seen many foolish people who want this and want that in a car trying to stretch their budget to get their dream car. End up eating maggi mee everyday. Ridiculous! -

Here you are boasting Nissan Sunny good after you have to take out spare type, repair kit ... put redex ( car drugs ) just to achieve what other car acheive ...... come on who are you kidding, if the FC is not so horrible, would you have need to do the above . Of course the private instructor choose Nissan Sunny !!! I own and test drive a damn Nissan Sunny !!! As for my 'friendsss' and colleagues yep they too drive nissan Sunny, guess what the slogan in my office is now regarding cars ? "Anything is better then Nissan Sunny ! "
I just trading it in for a honda, 2 other colleagues and 1 other friend also within these 2 mths traded in their nissan sunny for other cars ...
Look at the postings, you have people putting in fuel adjective, even to the extend of taking out the spare tire and repair kit on a nissan sunny .... is that is not desperate act to show how bad the FC is !!!
So Bryanlim1977 what car you drive or you just test drive ? or you just heard from some of your "friendsss" about the nissan sunny ?
