... i just bought a KIA carens 2 days ago and when i stop my car, i smell this chao ta- burnt smell.. is it normal for brand new cars to have this smell?

By right, NO. Unless you rammed your car or apply too much brake.
Or it is that you have benn driving with your hand-brake on?

huh.. die liao.. i'll observe for a few days more and see what happens.. i didn't ram nor do i drive with brakes.. at frist i thought its because of the new paint job being heated up ..hope nothing's wrong

I am not a car mechanic.
But I would advise that when u drive and smell the chao ta smell.. quickly pull over and open the bonnet and then see whether the smell come from the engine and if so which part... maybe some belt is rubbing against something or something....
Anyway if new car just sent to the dealer to check lor.

Just bring it back to the servicing center if you are unsure abt it.
Anyway is there like a time lap or lost of transmission power or something?
It may be the wiring problem or clutch burn, brakes pad or tyres u can check it out.
