I am newbie here, today I beat a red light at marymount rd while trying to avoid a motorcycle. It was daytime and i didn't see the flash. Normally how long do I have to wait for the traffic summon to come? Is it after some time if no summons yet then I am safe?

You can appeal of course, and hopefully the picture taken will have the picture of the bike in it, and that you that you can substain your claim.
Not too sure of the chance of sucess though, as its really on a case to case basis. -
I think you have to wait for a month.
If no summon, then the red light camera there is a dud. Or you had just past it when it turns red (there are some slight delay in the timing). Good luck to you. -

I believe with the recent step up of enforcement on speeding, they are falling behind because of the hugh amount of speeding tickets to be processed and sent out.
Do not be surprised if the ticket comes in more than one month late.
Government is going to make a lot of money from the tickets issued by TP. -
Thanks for the info. I am still on p-plate so 12 pts for red light very bad for me!!
I think I'll play safe and 'suspend' myself first until Feb next year, if summon don't come then it will be a huge relief...
So if the camera didn't flash, does it mean it didn't take the picture? -
always flash from behind. may b u din notice or it din flash.
will only catch those cars beating red light abt 2 seconds after changed to red.

u will hv a better chance if u r turning left/right. -
I was going straight...
The motorbike was parked on the left side of the road and I slowed down to 20kh to avoid it and keep on the lane (Argh why did I slow down so much????), the light turn orange when i was nearing the line and I already couldn't stop before the line, so I accelerate but the car didnt pick up enough speed to cross the line before it turned red... -
i believe u shld be ok.
not ok if starting to cross the road 1 or more seconds after it turned red.
but remember dun play play...

There are usually slight delay in the detection circuit and the turning of the red light.
Most of the time, the delay is about 1 sec or less and not 2 sec. ie when you cross the white line and the light just turn red, then you are OK. It is only when the light turn red for about 1 sec or more, then you cross the line, then the camera will activate.
The timer delay if any is meant to sort out those who intentionally beat the red light from those just pass it when it turns red. Of course sometime the timer not working, and the camera will then work without delay.
Anyway, do drive carefully, within speed limit, and obey the traffic light signal and you will be allright. Slow down and be extra alert when near traffic junction. -
Best part is something (timer, sensor, camera, whatever) spoilt, the camera lights keep flashing even when it is green light...

Thanks all. I must learn to just brake when see a orange light next time. Thanks also for the link to police force, I'll be checking that one quite often in the next few weeks....
Didn't get the bike license plate as I was quite panic at that time, but if unlucky got summon then the photo should include the bike as well ..

hey relak relak. whats done is done. no need to kan cheong. if nv tio, go buy 4D. if tio, buy 4D also. haha. joke aside, if tio can always appeal. u seem to have valid grounds? but if the appeal fails, what can u do? so dun haf to kan cheong la.

From my experience, if following 3 conditions are met, then you will get summon for beating the red lights.
It's 12 points deduction plus fine of $200.
(1) Cross the stop-line after 0.2 sec , or more, when light turns red.
(2) Speed of car is equal or more than 30km/Hr, when crossing stop line.
(3) Did not stop.
If you stop ur car after stop line, it's okay, will not get summon.
For P-plate, cannot get more than 12 points, else , licence re-voked. -

So far I got no points yet, if kena 12 then I better stop driving until p-plate period is over! -
correct me if i am wrong.....but i think there is a new law stating dat licence will be revoked for P-plates beating the redlight....i think so nia.....not very confirmed hor
