As for the above unfortunate case, despite that the fellow cyclist warned the bus driver, I think the any cyclist in the group should also, in their own judgement, decide whether it is safe to proceed or not. Had the cyclist slowed down or brake to let the bus pass, the tradegy might not had happened.
These cyclist are amatuers not those market transit cyclist. Pls do not disgard this case as the usual market transit cyclist's road accident. Amatuers cyclist do know their right of ways on road.
Eg. Your driving u'r car at a single lane 2 way traffic flow & have to lane change due to a vehicle breakdown ahead of u.
1) Do u Check u'r rear, blind spot, oncoming cars clear before u signal to overtake?
Or
2) Proceed with lane changing expecting the oncomming cars to give way to u while u lane change out?
Ask yourself .........

In Memory of Sylvester Ang...
On 24th Dec 2004, Christmas Eve, we lost a compatriot on the road.
Sylvester did not survive the unfortunate collision with a bus on 19th Dec 2004. He was a victim of reckless driving and the accident could have
been avoided had the driver given cyclists equal respect as road-users.
Sylvester was a passionate and dedicated young man who lost his life while pursuing the sports he loved. His death is a huge loss to many who share his passion.
We would like to remind all road-users to be cautious and be patient to all
cyclists, as we are extremely vulnerable on the road. We are on the road for a good cause of keeping fit, and to inspire others to take up the sports. There are no bike lanes on the road for cyclists. All cyclists ask for is a little space and respect from other fellow road-users.
Sylvester's family, friends and everyone who knew him are deeply pained by
his death. We want to remind all drivers to be more careful in future.
Cyclists have every right to be on the road as well.
