It depends on how long you are waiting.Originally posted by MCY:It seems that driving in Singapore, the "N" is redundant. Cause till now, I've never engaged "N" before.
Haha I see no point in starting up my car in "N" cos I need to be in "P" before I can remove my keyOriginally posted by starrystars:Also, you car can only be switched on in "P" or "N", so it is never redundant, otherwise it would not be there in the first place.
Mine 'N' can take out keys leyOriginally posted by w2k_83:Haha I see no point in starting up my car in "N" cos I need to be in "P" before I can remove my key
wa....wait ppl tow the car away and then ship it to sg and sell it to the PI.Originally posted by Theatre Of Dreams:when there's no more space, cars tend to park parallel just behind these diagonally parked cars, hence obstructing them. but, all these cars have their handbrakes off and their gears at N, so that their car can be shifted whenever the car they're blocking is leaving.![]()

recently i when thailand and noticed a phenomenon. at siam square they have those diagonal vertical parking. when there's no more space, cars tend to park parallel just behind these diagonally parked cars, hence obstructing them. but, all these cars have their handbrakes off and their gears at N, so that their car can be shifted whenever the car they're blocking is leaving.![]()
yea i was also much in awe of such co-operative spirit as what you sayOriginally posted by Poopie-Head:ya, Yo2020 got the more refined answer to your 1st question.
Hey i think i saw something similar in Europe, i think England, or was it Aussie? LOL forgotThey park along the side of the road and leave the gear in Neutral so that more cars can squeeze into that stretch of road. The cars will gently 'push' the other cars to get out/in. very weird and co-operative spirit i must say!
And for those who think that people cant tow ur car if u put brakes on, juz a question for u - let's say u dont pay your monthly instalments and the bank ask the tow-er to tow away your car - how do u think they did it? Remember, you got your brakes on...![]()

Yup! I witness an occasion whereby a TP was checking on a Honda MPV (did not see the owner) inside a carpark. Minutes later a tow car came and the driver (tow car) manage to open the car with a long stick (just like seeing movie where pro-car theft doing their job). In just less then 10 minutes, the car is being towed away. Bet the driver must have owe lots of summons.Originally posted by Poopie-Head:ya, Yo2020 got the more refined answer to your 1st question.

Parking brakes do not apply on all 4 wheels but only the front 2 (for FWD cars, not too sure about others), only the pedal brakes will hold all 4Originally posted by Poopie-Head:ya, Yo2020 got the more refined answer to your 1st question.
