aiyah so timid one.....if a motorbikie bang u ar....just slam to it and lets i fall down so it can escape then try to crush it with ur wheels.....similar to T1 scene when terminator on bike chase SUV.....................when the guy fail to brake and ram to u...just make a e-brake and do a reverse slam to the guy's front.....all this done in movies already liao...Originally posted by Moosmooer:Let me start first. I was involved in 3 minor accidents before, all other party's fault. Goes to show being careful is useless if other motorists are careless
Anyway, my 1st was when a 40+ lady reversed her car into mine at a carpark. 1st time kena, don't know what to do. Can only curse and swear in my mind. Doesn't help when the lady kept saying "I didn't see you coming out lah", despite a horn that was sounded for a few seconds.
After both of us cool down a bit, and with a help of a friendly witness, we came into agreement that she was at fault and will be responsible for cost of repair to my front bumper. I'll send my car to her workshop. Contacts and car number plate was exchanged. After my car was repaired, we signed a private settlement agreement that confirm the end to the whole episode and no other parties like insurace etc will be involved. Case closed.
2nd was when a motocycle broke my side mirror. Again private settlement, though this time I have to keep pestering the bugger and it took quite a while to get back my money. (I took the car to my own place for repair)
3rd time was yesterday. Damn headache man. The other guy failed to brake in time and ram into my rear. I got his carplate number, name, ic and contact.
He ask me to bring my car to his workshop for repair, but have yet to contact me about when and where.
Question is, am I doing things correctly?
I've heard about IDAC, where you bring your car for damage evaluation. Do I have to go there if we've already agreed on private settlement.
Is it within my rights to request for a rented car or taxi fees since his workshop is so far from my workplace and will inconvenience me.
What if the guy keeps delaying for days and finally refuses to honour his words? Will I be screwed since no report was made?
Sian, now can't sleep because the guy doesn't seems trustworthy.[/i]
Take the baseball bat in your car n give hell to him!!!Originally posted by XpengX:also interested to know. especially what if people like hard boy reverse into you car then accuse you of ramming him?
what to do with people who refuse to admit mistake and pay up?
ignore ceecookie. he's apparently escaped from IMH.Originally posted by ceecookie:aiyah so timid one.....if a motorbikie bang u ar....just slam to it and lets i fall down so it can escape then try to crush it with ur wheels.....similar to T1 scene when terminator on bike chase SUV.....................when the guy fail to brake and ram to u...just make a e-brake and do a reverse slam to the guy's front.....all this done in movies already liao...
sounds like hardboy's tactic....... wah hardboy drive merz one ah?Originally posted by Paperboat:Just encountered an accident yday in my colleague's car. one merz-driving biz man reversed into the car we were in during parking.
He refused to admit it's his fault and accused us of banging into him when all the while our vehicle was stationary. He refused to give his personal details too and just walked off.
the only detail required is his licence plate no. with that, go to any IDAC and furnish the no. to the officer there. they can trace his particulars with the no.
Each party's ins coy will then decide who is at fault.
We have one witness, and the whole accident was captured on our office bldg's cctv![]()
can keep other's ic?Originally posted by ShutterBug:1) Take down license plate of 2nd party
2) Approach (not apprehend) 2nd party
3) Obtain particulars and IC number (you have NO authority to demand IC from 2nd party)
4) If unco-operative, call Police
5) If co-operative, work out where to repair car
6) Have the damag evaluated on same day, and make claim from 2nd party after obtaining repair quotation
The above is based on accidents wherein it can be settled mutually. Otherwise, it's a draggy drawn-out affair to involve insurance companies.
I side-swiped by a Malaysian driver driving a S'pore reg commercial van; he own up his carelessness, and paid for panel beating costs which amounted to S$350.00. All went smoothly - I held on to his Malaysian IC throughout.
