You could just leave OD on, as once the car knows that its travelling say pass 80km/hr or pass its 4th gear, it will be on OD... some cars have auto OD and some allows you to adjust for it.Originally posted by mini-sized:Can anyone enlighten me wether this is correct:
1) Off Overdrive (O/D) when travelling less than 80km/hr
2) On O/D when cruising at high speed
Does the combination of (1) and (2) would maximise fuel efficiency?
Or it better to leave it ON mode at all time??
Hi to all,Originally posted by Theatre Of Dreams:just leave it on.
if over-drive is the 4th gear, then i think it is easily engaged even below 80. i've tried meddling with the button, switching off OD at speeds below 80 and the rpm rises, which means that the car already at 4th gear at such low speeds. imagine if you off it, and the car stays at 3rd throughout, of cos high fuel consumption.
OD is like this sexy name given to the highest gear in an auto gearbox used for cruisingOriginally posted by mini-sized:Hi to all,
Thanx for replies.
For convenient sake, it's better to leave OD on mode.
But say if u r travelling in a heavy traffic, would it be ok if OFF OD since it's very unlikely that you would travel more than 80km/hr?
My reply are the same as the guys before me. OD is best left in its default ON position. Use it (Means OFF it) only to overtake or as engine brake. My boss loves doing it (Purposely Off the OD to engine brake his Sunny). This method confirm your car "lim you" not "seng you"... Slightly different from the 'S' mode cos it doesn't kick down to the next lower or jump to the next higher gear like the 'S' mode (if you drag long enuff that is). My boss likes to do it despite knowing that will result in hefty petrol bills becos' the Sunny is not his... My company pay for the petrol bills... Therefore, use the OD mode only if you are a few points short of redeeming your SMILE pointsOriginally posted by imprezaWRXSTi22B:SeeTees, where are you??
so u mean >O/D OFF< (wif the lite on) drink more fuel than the default O/D on?Originally posted by SeeTees:My reply are the same as the guys before me. OD is best left in its default ON position. Confirmed. Guarantee card + Chop + Lifetime Warranty. How can a car possibly seng you in this mode when the revs are high? Unless your car drink more in the OD On mode while overtaking then maybe I will take back the chop and tear the guarantee card.. If not, yes that will be the case as u put it. If have cars that seng you instead in this off mode let me know; I will gladly trade in my City for that car...Originally posted by BrUtUs:so u mean >O/D OFF< (wif the lite on) drink more fuel than the default O/D on?
