thanks! any good workshop to recommend? mine ride is a fake blue miniOriginally posted by Theatre Of Dreams:why mushroom? haha such a cute metaphor...
my humble knowledge tells me that cold air intake allows your engine to combust air which has more oxygen molecules per unit volume, as compared to warmer air. [the lower the temperature, the less the kinetic energy of the air molecules, the closer the molecules are bonded together, and so the more of them per unit volume.] with more oxygen molecules, there will be greater combustion between the mixture of air & fuel in the engine, resulting in more power more va va vroom...
fake blue mini? u mean its not blue but look like blue or u mean its not mini but look like mini?Originally posted by trueno86:thanks! any good workshop to recommend? mine ride is a fake blue mini![]()
headOriginally posted by HENG@:extractor change will the backpressure, muffler change will affect how easily the exhaust gases flow thru it. basically a proper tuned setup is needed for a whole extractor, head and muffler setup to get an optimum flow and backpressure.
haha...it should be true blue but fake mini...it's kelisa alrightOriginally posted by HENG@:fake blue mini? u mean its not blue but look like blue or u mean its not mini but look like mini?
if its fake mini, i guess its kelisa?
cos the pink color open pod air filter looks like mushroom...i hope i am toking abt the rite thingy...Originally posted by Theatre Of Dreams:aiya whether mini = kelisa i don't care i just wanna know why cold air intake = mushroom!!!![]()
actually, extractor, exhaust head n muffler are considered a whole set of components. Mushrooms should have a negligible effect since its just street moddification we're talking about. elaboration would explain why thos Formula 1 cars have extractors shaped the way they do, but that is a whole load of physics really, something about thermal dynamics and fluid mechanics.Originally posted by trueno86:headcare to elaborate? i only got extractor and muffler changed, thinkin of mushroom next...
here. thats whyOriginally posted by Theatre Of Dreams:aiya whether mini = kelisa i don't care i just wanna know why cold air intake = mushroom!!!
heez what is extractor btw? and backpressure refers to the reverse flow of exhaust gases?

so i got extractor in for 1 week before i fix the muffler, guess the head is included...but i hunger for more power!!Originally posted by HENG@:actually, extractor, exhaust head n muffler are considered a whole set of components. supercharge.Originally posted by trueno86:so i got extractor in for 1 week before i fix the muffler, guess the head is included...but i hunger for more power!!what's next? Not turbo pls

this is it! where to get it fix and cheap?Originally posted by HENG@:here. thats why
donch ask me. this not my car. I'm more a fan of the box filters actually. This will actually kill your bottom end torque.Originally posted by trueno86:this is it! where to get it fix and cheap?
i really got a lot to catch up man...car mods...hmmOriginally posted by HENG@:donch ask me. this not my car. I'm more a fan of the box filters actually. This will actually kill your bottom end torque.
when u lose bottom end torque, yr acceleration suffers.Originally posted by trueno86:i really got a lot to catch up man...car mods...hmm![]()
is it??? need to think twice liao....good acceleration is the only thing i got nw...tot i could enhance further with mushrooms...gosh....the next near practical and relatively cheap upgrade will be?Originally posted by HENG@:when u lose bottom end torque, yr acceleration suffers.
no no. mushrooms help with top end power. Sorry to say this but in a Kelisa i seriously won't want to be driving past 120km/hOriginally posted by trueno86:is it??? need to think twice liao....good acceleration is the only thing i got nw...tot i could enhance further with mushrooms...gosh....the next near practical and relatively cheap upgrade will be?![]()
i got strut bar, k & n drop in, hotbit extractor and muffler...u toking abt fuel controller...ok...and i will chk out the plugs for now...txs bro!Originally posted by HENG@:no no. mushrooms help with top end power. Sorry to say this but in a Kelisa i seriously won't want to be driving past 120km/h
anyways, what do u have? Have u considered plugs like the Denso Iridiums? Tuning the air:fuel mix should also help, but that comes at the cost of increased FC. IF u want to do that tho, remember not to run it too rich. What else? hmmm Just changing yr box filter to an aftermarket one like K&N, but retaining the original box setup should help as well. Will list more stuff when I can think of it.
ok. try grounding wires as well. these are the 'traditional' mods we know. nowadays also have the E68 and the surbo, some ppl find them effective, some find they don't seem to make a difference, so this u will have to do a little trial and error. talk to yr mechanics, but also be aware of what they say, because they might just be saying what they say, because they want to make a sale to u.Originally posted by trueno86:i got strut bar, k & n drop in, hotbit extractor and muffler...u toking abt fuel controller...ok...and i will chk out the plugs for now...txs bro!
Put simply, extractors are pipes leading directly out of the exhaust ports which allow exhaust gases to flow more freely out. As the exhaust gases pass through pipes, they tend to compress at certain points, causing high-pressure spots that restrict the gas flow. Extractors are shaped, or tuned, in such a way that the high-pressure spots do not occur.Originally posted by Theatre Of Dreams:heez what is extractor btw? and backpressure refers to the reverse flow of exhaust gases?
