Paying more attention to speedtraps/TP then road conditions?

AS A driver commuting daily, I cannot help but feel pressured and stressed driving on our roads these days.
It has never been so stressful on our roads
The reason?
After the recent increase in speed cameras around Singapore, I have been booked twice for speeding.
Now I have to be extra-careful, to the extent of being paranoid.
I have never felt this way before. Prior to this, I have never received a speeding ticket though I started driving seven years ago.
Previously, I had to look out for only other road users and pedestrians and cyclists. Now I have to look out for bushes and overhead bridges to check if there are any Traffic Police officers lurking with their speed camera.
Not surprisingly, many of my friends who have been booked for speeding feel the same way too.
I understand that the authorities need to make our roads safer, especially with so many accidents due to speeding. But the hidden speed cameras have affected our way of driving.
It has never been so stressful.
I travel quite a fair bit every day. So trust me, it is not easy to live with this kind of stress.
Of course, there is the argument that if you stick to the rules, you do not have to worry at all.
I tried driving within the speed limits and all I got were stares, honks and bad vibes from other road users who had to go out of their way to overtake me. Many times, even commercial vehicles, be it big or small, overtook me.
Also, there are times when I look desperately for the speed-limit sign and, when I do not see any on a particular stretch of road, I begin to feel pressured, worrying if I am speeding or not.
On certain roads it is very difficult to stick to the speed limit. For example, on a road with a downward slope, like when entering a tunnel, the car's speed will increase even if you ease off the accelerator. In such instances, I start to brake only to receive high beams from the vehicles behind.
I hope the officers overseeing traffic regulations have tried driving around Singapore within the speed limits. If they have, they would have found how impractical it is to drive this way.
It may be better for all vehicles, including cars, to have some device like a speed limiter, so everyone travels within the speed limits.
That way, at least, I do not have to worry about speed cameras and pressure from other road users.

I feels the same. Found myself paying more attention to bushes and overhead bridges nowadays more then the vehicles and traffic around me.
This speed trap thing is totally unnecessary...... If I ever buank, it will be because of these new toys.... -

same here... as a outdoor slaes travelling is a major part of my daily life.... but itz nt tt stressful on expressway coz shd noe wotz the speed limit but is those small road tt make me scared.... speed trap here n there... duno when gonna get caught... esp after getting a ticket at gambas ave for speeding(travel at 74km/h on a 60k/h road)... haiz... dunno y tp haf 2 go thru such extreme to make driving no longer a pleasent ride for every1......

even police cars don travel 50km/h on a normal road. there was once, i travelled same pace as him. it was at 90km/h at lornie road...
average speeds travelled by we singaporeans are about 70-90km/h on small roads already.. expressways, average 110?

btw if put speed limiter den abit hard, coz if the limiter is set to 70 .. den you reach expressway stuck at 70km/h..

actually the speedtraps causes more accidents~ cuz all drivers looking out for the speedcameras and not concerntrating on driving~

Interestingly enough, some studies have shown that increasing or lowering speed limits on roads alone have very little effect on the median speeds of the roads. Generally, motorists will tend to drive within the limits of the vehicle, the road conditions and their abilities, irrespective of what the posted limit is.
Also, a lot of the statistics used to support speed limit laws are a little flawed. They often show raw accident/fatality rates rather than normalized based on the number of vehicles on the road, and the mileage travelled. With an increase in car population, it would be a given that the raw number of accidents would increase, but the normalized rate may not.
One of the proposed guidelines is that the speed limit should be based on the median 85% speed of the vehicles but I guess it is far easier to use an arbitrary limit than to do the right studies. -

i guess the authorities are also aware that travelling within the speed limit is quite ludicrous when the road conditions allow faster travelling. hence they are willing to give allowance - of 10 kmh rite? -
hahaha.. actually i do agree with some points with the writer... cars are getting more powerful and it is hard to stick within limits like 50 or 60... my point of view is that minor roads should have increase from 70 to 75. and expressway should go to 95... But then those roads in housing estates should still remain at 50 for safety reasons..

Glancing at your speedometer every few seconds to make sure you don't go too much over speed limit: 20%

hmmm... oh... that one can appeal one.. no board... so i stick to my current limit lor...

oh road limit i think is 60kph but i travelling ar around 80-85 kph(notice that speed on my speedo after i apply brake once i saw the Supercool laser-camera welding TP hidden behind a big tree) -
btw, can someone post the speed limits to the various kinds of roads in singapore other than expressways? say, 2 lane, 3 lane, single lane, within neighbourhood, at the outskirts, in the city, etc. alot of these roads do not have their speed limits posted. most of the time i am left guessing what the limit is, and fearful of going too fast even though the road is clear!

do you all ever feel that sometimes driving safely and sticking to the speed limit never pays? there are tons of drivers who drive as though the road is theirs and speed like nothing, and they are never caught!

i travel around 80-90 if no car in small road and 110 in expressway....there are to many things to take notice la.. cant be able to follow the law all the time... some spot they hide u cant even see. like behind the bus stop deluxe advertisment board... how to pay notice every bus stop...???

, spend so much of your attention looking and searching here and there, only 10% on driving, you say leh 
My point is that the authorities are impeding the drivers to concentrate their attention on things like speed trap and cameras that may (read: most of the time) be more dangerous than speeding.
Considering that you are scanning around for speed trap in the bushes when the car in front suddenly slam brake and chances are that you are probably you are going to ram into it. If you are just concentrating on driving, you might be able to brake on time.
They think speeding don't need concentration to avoid an accident so they are trying to divert some of your attention to themselves...
