semi-automatic (+) and (-), are they all same ?

Peugoet = Triptonic
Mazda = Activematic
Hyundai = H-matic
BMW = Steptronic
Are they the same ? Is just a "naming" that the manufacturer choose to use.
If they are not the same, which one is superior ?
I checked the Peugoet website that triptonic is based on Porcshe technology/concept. Does it means this one is superior ?

most of them are the same. only a few like the E box in the Gallardo, the paddle shifts in the Ferrari and the SMG in the M3 are true sequential boxes.
The rest are more like automatic boxes with an option for you to shift sequentially, and those names are really just what the manufacturer chooses to call it. -

u mean alfa's selespeed? I haven't driven an Alfa before so I don't know about whether it has a D or not. The Vanquish's paddles actually operate a manual gearbox, while the DB9 is an automatic. Opel's Easytronic is very much a sequential gearbox.

heard the new golf GTi has 2 clutches.
1 for 1st 3rd and 5th gears
another for 2nd 4th and 6th gears
resulting in quik changes

got full auto... and selespeed....
auto... no need to explain... the so call D mode.
selespeed...u canv use manual shift.... or when u hit red line... it auto up-shift, or below like 1.5k RPM... it auto downshift.
quite fun, go test drive... at jurong there... -

There's no real advantage since it still runs on torque converters and such like a conventional autobox. also, your left foot can rest as it doesn't have to operate the clutch pedal. -
SMG isn't an autobox like Tiptronic though, it's a true sequential gearbox.
