Used Cars in Australia

hey guys,
seeking advice on the used car market in australia.
will be going over to brisbane later on this year.
have been looking at skyline gts and gtr over there, but which seems v common. around the range of 14 - 20 K i think.
anyone knows of which cars are good buys there?

A 2nd hand lightly modded r33 comes to around AUD$28K.
A 2nd hand 1991 supra also lightly modded comes to around AUD$24K.
A 2nd hand 1996 20th anniversary special edition 2.4l honda accord came in at AUD$14K.
A friend of mine got his mitsubitshi magna 2nd hand 3.4l at AUD$22K, he traded in his lancer coupe for AUD$13K.
You can get a brand new 1.8l corolla 5 door altise, nissan sunny, all for under AUD$20K.
The hottest selling model now is the new camry, at AUD$34888.
The last r34 gtr-t nicely modded I saw 2nd hand on advert was sold for AUD$34K.
If you got AUD$80K to spare, time to get a brand new c-class kompressor or your basic bmw 3-series.
As usual, no COE applies, just renew your rego when time is up, apply for your custom license plates from the transport office in the city centre.

r33s are a common sight in thr brisbane city centre. They usually come with pipes so huge you can stick your limbs in. So I can tell you, you don't really look any special there. Any overseas student with a deep pocket can nicely afford a heavily modded supra or skyline. The cars that exude a little more class are the s-13s and s-15s there, just my personal opinion.

there is no realli such a thing as a gd buy car
there are a few factors to look for
1. wat sort of car u want
2. any brand preference
3. ur budget
4. wat is the car most commonly used for (just travelling from pt a to pt b, or need to ferry alot of ppl ard...etc)
5. wat sort of oil consumption r u looking at ( in another word, u want higher cc engine in xchange for a fuel guzzler machine or u want something more economical)
when u have all these sorted out, more or less u will know which are the cars u wanna get -
If you're really on budget, AUD$14999 will get you a brand new holden barina, hyundai getz(another hotseller at the moment), and similar 5 door hatches at that price, spare 1 or 2K more and get the 1.8l honda jazz.

Yeah... used cars there are quite cheap... thing is, after getting it, be careful of break ins... a lot of ppl over there think that only rich asians drive convertibles or coupes... so driving modded cars is sure to get unwanted attention...
Invest in a good car alarm... hehe... -

my 1997 5-dr suzuki swift only A$7K (here it's called suzuki chino) when i bought it in 2002.
Till now only around 70K km. 1 previous owner.
around the price of 2 laptops.

Dont worry abt getting a car in aust... its cheap and there is practically very little or no depreciation at all....
When u reached there, just surf the classifieds or newspaper.... look out for the overseas students who are going back to their countries and selling their cars cheap cheap...
