Name is Kevin and from sydney.
Just wanted to get some info about singapore...
I'm almost graduating from uni and might be following my GF(singaporian) up and find some work...
I'm a car fanatic and my GF tells me that modding and purchasing wise is a killer!!
I'm actually thinking twice about moving up there now....
SO what kind of laws are there up there modding wise??
My current ride is a 2000 3.5L magna sports in australia, done a fair bit to my baby and goes pretty nice..
If you've lived in aussie before you;'d know the magna is not a really popular to choose modding wise.... I chose the magna because you always see skylines, supras and a whole lot of silvias around, so choosing this as my project are has been fun and have had my fun of ass kickin!

Also i heard petrol prices are bitch as well.... and that its not good to have anything above a 2 litre??? -
seriously mate, give it up.
cars in singapore are very expensive and laws on moddification of vehicles are very very strict.

Your 2nd hand magna is not going to be worth AUD$24000(mods or not) here.

Here it is considered a privilliage to own a Suzuki Swift or a 2nd-hand car ...

everything here is not like what is in Aus.
The rego here is steep, the perol is higher than sydney which is already expensive compare to Brisbane and Perth, and the insurance here is definitely a killer.
The $$$ you paid for the magna may not even be enough to pay for our COE - a certificate by the govt that allows you to own a car here in singapre.
But of course, there are other things that are cheaper here. If you solely wanted to be here because of cars, this is not the place, but this is the place for lots of other things -

Fyi, no cars age 3yrs & above can be imported into Sg. Those under 3 need to pay S$10,000 surcharge.
On top of tat also need to secure COE. All the more reason to think twice. -
Must prepare $20K for COE and also 130% tax on Car Value. Go figure.

Look at it this way the car here is more expensive then australia by a lot. You buy a car here , take that same amount you get 3 & 1/2 cars of the same model that car in Australia . That is how expensive car are here. Here there is a lot of rules on modify of cars, not like australia which a lot of do it yourself, it is hard to get the kits here and they check and penalties is heavy for modify.
This is a not a city for cars. You can only afford a much smaller car then you own in australia also forget about modify of it. -
