I heard that hybird car save on fuel....But the price of the car is damn ex....
And can hybirds like the honda civic be moded???? -
well, u save fuel on car but many much more fuel is used to produce the hydrogen gas

You are right, they are very expensive here. They are worth buying only in California. Mod them at the expense of the ozone layer, the Amazon forest and the survival of the Maldives.

There are diesel superminis which give better mileage than hybrid cars too.

and i think the horse power of these cars are not as powerful as normal saloon cars.. maybe 1.6 hybrid = 1.0 or 1.3 petrol..

Not true. Newer breeds of hybrids are just as powerful as cars of equivalent petrol engine. The Prius 2 can do the century sprint under 10sec at full throttle abeit at the expense of fossil goo. The purpose of hybrid is to take advantage of the electrical engine's torque and the petrol cruising ability rite?
The electric engine (being single speeds) is efficient at the lower end, probably using less electricity than burning fuel to move the car, but once the car reaches a certain high speed, the electric engine again, being single speed is inefficient using much more electricity than petrol engine using fuel. That's when the petrol engine takes over.
I think hybrid is more tuned for fuel economy rather than performance. -
so that means at low speed the engine uses electricity instead of fuel and at higher speeds it switches over to a petrol engine??? but if thats the case that means we'll have to recharge the car like the rhino fire vehical??? If thats the case, elect. bill sure shoot a rocket high....

I agree with you, a diesel can do better mileage but in Singapore context, diesel vehicle cannot be owned by people without a company, so next best alternative is hybrid, but only if the price is right and i totally agree that currently price of hybrid here are far too expensive. theres another hazard too...when the electric motor kicks in..u'll be knocking more ppl down b4 u know it cos the pedestrians can't hear the car coming....
