between toyota vios engine(vvti) and mazda 2 engine (vvt) and suzuki new swift (vvt) fuel consumption? Since they are using the same engine technology, therefore is it possible to assume their fuel consumption doesnt differs much? if that is so, how come still so many people opt to buy toyota even though it is a long wait(abt 3months)

it is the branding thing... and the vios is much cheaper than both of the other two cars... and singaporeans are like sheep.. follow the majority only

Do you want a longer wait for a car you like or are you willing to trade the car you like for something you dont like for immediate delivery....Waiting time should not be a criteria for buying a car right? except for those with no choice like COE expiring or car already sold...

u mean vios is peoples' choice?how come? in term of value, i dont think mazda and suzuki lose out...or am i wrong? both of them are almost the same price as vios auto now, with maybe a couple of thousands difference but they are MADE in JAPAN!!!! and not made in thailand...so,can anyone tell me why vios really that stand out........*blur*

Toyota has been known for its reliabililty and this has been built up over the years, so not easy to tarnish this reputation even if they shift their production to thailand. Simply said, Vios is more like riding on the benefits on a proven product.
Madza and Suzuki is capitalising on that their cars are made in Japan as a selling point to command a higher price (to match toyota) than thai-made vios but one should not generalise that made in japan cars are better, i mean car made in thailand can be just as good.
Apart from the equipments list (Alloys rims, all round disc brakes, fog lights as standard), the VVT-i technology also plays an important part in engine refinement, responsiveness and fuel consumption.
Talk to a Vios owner / driver, you know what I mean
