Noobie Tech Question: To go fast...to go furious....legally.

U wanna go fast without changing engines..
1:body parts as bumpers, side skirts hoods and spoilers--- a must.. coz of downforce.. cut through air faster
2:Rims..most likely 17" and above coz larger rims means handling power and change in speed increase. tires of course..
3:Supension..Common sense..naturally it will increase.
Edit: light weight. Racing seats would do good
Damn.. fancy puttin stickers or wat we call Vinyls to look fast..Lol.. Imagine u see a ricer car and when it moves..engine sounds STOCK.. it will look real stupid.
ppl who do that are probably those who want to stand out,impress people -especially woman but yet be a coward -

with downforce, there is drag. u cut thru air SLOWER. if u want to cut thru air faster, u need to minimise drag, hence u need to minimise downforce as well. want to go faster? giving your car more drag is definately NOT the way to go.

at least u got the "change in speed increase" part partially correct. "change in speed increase" can be summarised into one word: ACCELERATION. And if you get larger rims and increase the overall diameter of your wheel, assuming weight remains constant, your ACCELERATION will be SLOWER.
as for tyres, do know that the grippier a tyre is, the higher it's rolling resistance. what does this mean? It means that if u put better tyres on your car, it will be SLOWER.
common sense? it will increase what? suspension does not actually increase bhp or speed in a straight line. it may only improve cornering speeds, and that is assuming it has been properly set up. it does not make your car faster in a technical sense.Originally posted by InSidiousGG:3:Supension..Common sense..naturally it will increase. -

Personally I think in Singapore..we practically cant do anything/or say... a little to mod the car..mostly everything is restricted.. kindda hard. -

i think the others have mentioned the main ones like CAI, exhaust, remap ECU etc. but i don't think anyone has mentioned this yet:
dump the passengers.
if you're thinking of tracking, i know of someone who swapped his regular road going tires for a set of semi-slicks when he headed to sepang and had everyone raving about it. i'm not sure how useful this is in light of Heng's comments above about tires, but you could give it a go. -
