Nissan Latio

Hi,
Seriously considering replacing my 3.5 yr old Sunny 1.6SS.
Judging from the specifications posted in the Nissan Japan website, FC for LATIO is fairly good based on the 10 15 test, much better than the 9-10 km/l that I am getting currently..
Has anyone test drive the Nissan LATIO? Care to share your comments please?

Test drive for Latio will only begin 25th of this month. Looks good interior from pics, like a mini Cefiro. Like the sport hatch more than the sedan. The sedan's back look like an afterthought.

According to Nissan SE, the test cars are already in..
Agreed, the Sedan takes very much after the Megane while the rear of LATIO hatchback looks very similar to the Peugeot.. Preferred the hatchback.. -

The car is larger internally but smaller externally next to Sunny. Very high spec (which explains the appx 10k cost diff between the base models)
Agreed tat the hatch looks much better. The clamshell rear boot (a la BMw 7 series) looks out of place.

The one test driving may be ME. I tested drive it on 21st Feb at Ubi Showroom. It's super quiet engine and the great MP3/radio are the reasons I signed up for one Latio_Sport. Some feature include ionised aircon, keyless ignition...

So comfortable, so quiet, so smooth, first 2 seconds pick-up maybe a bit slow, but ok after 3 seconds (I'm not chasing a police car, so it's ok with me). Audio is supurply enjoyable (this is my 1st "expensive" car, so unable to compare other car's audio). I purposely drive a few rounds near my home (even I already reach home) just to enjoy the audio ... well, just own it for a few days mah.Originally posted by bcdggk:Yo Latio_Sport,

Look is BEAUTIFUL, my wife love the color she chose. Only thing not use to it, I can't see the front part of the car from the driver seat, thus I cannot estimate parking head-in (I cannot tell whether side of the car touches the pillar or not). I used to drive a cheaper car and I always park head-forward because I can see the front part of the car from the driver seat. Any other Latio-Owner has this problem???
Suspension is Wow, wow, and wow: Never feel a bump over many humps, speed-regulatory-strips, I told my wife this car is best for pregnant ladies.
Keyless, so convenience, never have to put hand in pocket to take out key and aim at the door hole/ignition anymore.
Air-con, full blast feature (TC called it "AUTO" button) if parked under hot sun and it gets colddddd in seconds, wow , wow, wow.
Alcantara/leather seats - so comfy; except neck no rest (unlike sunny - I like the neck rest in sunny when test-drive).
Spacious front and back (rear passenger seats): it's a well-known fact!
There are more wonderful things to say, will add next time ... -
hey latio sport, seems like you are enjoying your car a lot! what color did u choose? got some qns to ask, how much did u pay for your car and what is the financing package like (downpayment how much and how much is monthly installment?)

ya. apart for the pickup, everything else is ok for a 1.5liter car.
the high price you pay are for the interior and electroincs. i would prefer full leather sit la.....
She brought the car before offical launch, so got -$500. and the SE offer $300 for V-cool. -

No it doesnt... all auto only... well the only thing i can say after visiting the showroom is its very spacious inside.

I got my new Latio on Tues. There are certain things that really impressed me.
1) keyless entry is something new. Convenient needless to say. I don't have to even remove the key from my pocket throughout the entire day
2) The newly improved CVT engine is fuel economical and very smooth and quiet. You can even feel the engine braking when you are coming to an halt. Commendable for an auto car
3) Spacious in the inside, by making use of a more compact engine compartment
4) However, it's still considered a chep car, hence dun be surprised to see cheap plastics and ugly lights in the interior. The reading lights look like some modificaion bought from Autobac lor
5) On the whole, it's value for $$, relatively better performance as compared to sunny and a smoother ride. (in comparison with a jan 2003 sunny) -
Test drived the Sports Latio. Quite smooth I would say. Roomier than most 1.5L cars. Salesman says the selling point of this car is the cabin space, which I would agree. Driver's seat height can be adjusted, which I like.
However, the price put me off. I would rather go for a Civic VTi.

Need to compare up to the details.
Price of Latio Now $74 to 76 after 1000 discount (Finance)
Price of Civic Vti-L $75 after Discount (Finance too)
Power of Latio at a Glance @ 109ps
Power of Civic Vti-L at a Glance @ 110ps
For a 1.5L car, the power is quite close to Civic VTI-L. This is a simple conclusion that Latio Engine is pretty good.
Additional to note that Latio FC heard so far is around 13km/l to 15km/l, which I think if I am not wrong much better than civic.
Interior and Package
Latio defaults gives the leather/Alcantara which is of better quality than Honda
Latio Keyless entry is unique to Latio in this class range of cars (American Design)
Interior Dashboard is of European design which gives u a classy and cosy feel (for me for sure) as compare to an outdated Civic dashboad design (Since SDx range of Civic ?? - Only Speedometer changes)
Clever design of Interior space (Guess Renault plays a big part). Being a shorter car than Civic, the interior space is almost similar to Civic.
Safety feature -
Active Headrest - to prevent Whiplash Injuries during collision - Civic had none
Brake Assist - Latio / Altis have it ... not too sure Civic have it or not, but from what I know - None
Large Pockets of storage space, large glovebox which cant find in Civic (Depends on individual - I like to have more storage space)
PlasmasCluster ION - fresher air
For 2k more ... Latio gives a much better quality, more feature packed car than Civic - which I feel the features and such are basic of a car. Closer to lancer than to Latio/Altis
Take a closer look and u will know why.
My choice is Latio (I had initially put Altis, Latio and Civic as part of my choice)
But that is only a simple comparison. The liking still up to individual. Some still prefer the basic of Civic. -
Yes agreed. Civic's dashboard design is really old but I really don't know why I still prefer Civic than Latio...

Well ... I love VTEC engine cos I ride a S4 Vtec ... very nice. but in cars .. I love for overall stuff. Anyway .. I got friends who brought Civic due to the love for the engine is too great.
