The speed limit iof normal road in sg is ridiculous....60km/h.
With the surge of the amount of big cc cars and decreasing smaller cc cars, cars in sg will be faster!
i suggest the government impose a law that cars coming into sg will only have the first 3 gears + a reverse gear (manual). Why allow cars with 5 gears or even 6 to 7 gears to be driven on the road when the highest speed limit in sg is only 90km/h? It will only be natural for these cars to go faster than 90km/h. If this gear thing is not good enough, a speed limiter to be placed in every car in sg that it will be capped at 90km/h.
result? the traffic police's bikes and cars can be put to rest or back to their usual job of fetching friends or driving them somewhere to buy food during duty hours.
speed cameras can also be scrapped off le.
lots of bad comments about the traffic regulations in sg, kinda anal to me.
whole lot of contradictions. -
tell govt to outlaw private cars. only can take bus or taxi or MRT or walk. but Bus, MRT and Taxi all must be free and VERY efficient.

So basically you want all the car companies in the world to change their car gearboxes just for singapore? I just feel it's not that feasible... esp since some companies already have to make 2 different types of cars... left hand and right hand drive... adding one more type would be hard...
I just feel that instead of blaming the government for the road speed limits... maybe we should just blame ourselves and learn to control that right foot of ours... After all... it's the person driving who dictates the speed of the car... -

i think this thread is about the TP asking drivers not to speed by putting speed traps/cams..etc and all sorts of craps.
I think they should invest the money instead on a proper traffic light system and build better roads. -

How about this, import only small cars. Imagine driving a gold kart at 100km/h, that will definitely feel faster than when you are in a big car. Like this, less person will speed.

most people i know in Go-Karts don't even dare to push it past 50... 100? -
My suggestion to the government is that instead of limiting the gears, why not upgrade the brakes, easier to be done too...All cars to be fitted AP Racing or Brembo brakes...better car fitted with ceramics brakes....
Like that even speeding, the car will be able to stop if necessary....Notice you seldom see ferrari, porsche wrx, evo in sg accidents

i can tell u there's gonna be a lot more accidents. Brembos, AP Racing brakes, are very strong...their bite is almost instantaneous... At low speeds u're gonna have more people locking their wheels and losing control. Furthermore... generally, when u take out factory parts n fit afermarket parts in, whatever ABS system etc... u can forget about them being compatible with the aftermarket parts.
Imagine... a skinny tyred and small rimmed car like the Kelisa... with brakes like Brembos... brake only cfm lose control. -
Brakes good, driver also must be alert enough to use it.
