COE car,Originally posted by kelviz:Hey guys, currently studying in a poly hence i thought of getting a 2nd hand honda civic esi for daily use to and from school as it seems that public transport is quite expensive. Thinking of sharing the car with 2 friends. What are ur views and comments and what do u think the monthly cost would be to mantain and own and honda civic? ? ? Would it be cheaper to own a swift GTI and how much would that be? Thank you very much peeps =))
glad tat u understand. i can also understand tat at this kind of teen age, when u jus got a licence or not long. u r alway looking forward to driving and owning a car.Originally posted by kelviz:haha thanks very much for ur help haha i think SBS seems better lolz. yawn just feel like driving la how about borrowing a car from my aunt. but it is a subaru forester 2.0 the mantainance would sure kill me haha
WoW! WHICH ESI you Bought man?? Can give u 14km/l??? Most of them can barely touch 10~!!!!Originally posted by wbucket:COE car,
S$236.25per month, 10 year loan.
2nd hand car in its first 10 years more ex.
Fuel
depending on your home location, but since you said transport is ex, so must be far. Plus have to send your friend home first before you go home. Fun and games during weekends. I say 500km at least, to maybe 650km per week. Old car FC a little bad, since it is Honda, I give it 14km/L. S$54-S$70 per week. So it is S$234 - S$300per month.
Maintence, old car must be heavy. Maybe S$150per month.
Parking, S$65 + S$20(Mis) = S$85 per month or S$110 for multi-storey.
Insurance, young man, easily S$2.5k or more yearly. S$210per month.
Plus plus a little, and must not have any fines what so ever, I guess you will be looking at S$333 per person per month.
Looking at at my old days, I usually spend S$150-S$200 on public transport per month. I stay Tampines and study NUS. So I think you guys have to cut S$133 out from your monthly expenses on fun and games to feed the car. All 3 of you. Go out more, fuel go up, parking go up.
Little boy, learn how to make money first before wasting them. Got time, put your minds in the books so that you can get a decent job in the future. Then even BMW is easy buy.
Anyway, COE car, honda - swift about the same price. But honda more reliable. FC better.
Sorry, always thought Honda produce FC efficient cars. Guess I guess wrongly.Originally posted by DaKaR:WoW! WHICH ESI you Bought man?? Can give u 14km/l??? Most of them can barely touch 10~!!!!

Told you don't think so much already! Get back to your books! After reading through my simple math, you still don't get it. Out of the 1k I quote per month in my pervious posting, only 230 dollar is for the car price.Originally posted by kelviz:LoL haha duno la im just worried about the mantainance cost FC , Insurance etc haha the car cost can be taken care of lolz hmmm sianz renting a car is nothing like owning one lolz . . . . =PpP

Bro, i think very unfair to compare car vs bike. here's why :Originally posted by PAyTon:Go get a 2b licence and get a HONDA WAVE
The cost of 3 waves can be cheaper than owning 1 car.
FC - 50km/litre ( NO JOKE )
Season Parking - $15/mth (if want to save, park viod deck for free)
Normal parking - 60cent for half day
Road Tax - $80/yr(Sometime got rebate, no need to pay somemore)
Insuarance for new bike- ard $600
Machine price - ard $2500
Maintance - Engine oil ($12/3000km)
So, each of u can get a bike and long pang each of your gf out every weekend. 3 wave can fetch 6ppl where a car can only fetch 5.
If really want to buy a car, save up $15k then consider la. Student can hardly afford car la, unless u come from a wealthy family.
