paint maintenance on new car?

can any one here tell me how to maintain a new car paint ? how to keep it glazing ? any special wax or coat?

Went with my colleague with his new car to a shop car in Katong. Called something "XXXspeed". They applied a kinda silicon coating that cost abt $350. Can last one year when you can just wash your car with just plain water, wipe with clean cloth and get the same shine......so long as your car not scratched. Only apply to new paint work.
I am sure quite a few ppl know what I was referring to...Since my car not new so I never try. -
