Surely the latio.....u wouldn't want a car that is so common on the road like altis....

I would go for Altis. This is a 1.6L in a 1.6 body
Latio is 1.5L in a 1.6 body. No doubt the make the room bigger, but the FC will be crazy. And if its auto it really putting stress on the gears.
Go read the tourque on Latio, see if it got enough power.

Altis already a sunset model tat will be phased out in 2006. Latio may be smaller in size but at least it's bang up to date wif features of 21st century.
Let's be fair, they r designed to appeal to different grp of customers. Latio is for younger crowd while altis is 100% family man car.
I would vote for latio purely on features. Only problem, it's profile looks like Honda city, which isn't good looking at all.

FC for Latio is 12-15km/L (source: Nissan marketing exec)
FC for Latio is 14km/L (source: Nissan SE)

The Salesperson told me the FC shld be ard 13-14km/l ... which I donno if it will really hit that rating.
But if what the new release by Nissan stating 20% more FC efficient than sunny. Based on some basic maths .
Sunny FC generally around 10km/l to 11km/l
20% more efficient ...
That works out 10x20% = 12 to 11x20% = 13.2km/l ??
Which turn out to be not bad at all .....
Comparing specs is a bit difficult as it just state the highest peak power at a particular rpm. The curves is not linear so the initial power may vary from cars to cars.
Got a test drive yesterday at Tan chong and guess what .. I feel so good in the car. The engine is quiet but if allow to step a bit more... the engine gives a soft "grrr" sound and the surpisingly it pick up speed. Although the test drive is short, I did try to step hard on the engine with total of 5 person in the car.
Been driving Mit Lancer own by my brother and I personally feels the power quite similar ... maybe the high torque (max speed) will be lower than lancer which I dont mind cause I drove around city and home.
Also I love the sports flexibility in the rear seating which none of the current hatchback could match.
In term of safety, the nearest car is Altris could match it. It term of other specs ... not a single I see can match it in its class. Thats why the high price. But then again... it includes most of the thing that I cant ask for more liao except for an extra key immobliser ... (pay 50%)
Anyway ... I paid the deposit for the car liao .. waiting to get it .....

Oh ... btw ... I choose Latio also because it is made in Japan as compare to Altris that is made in Japan.
Plus the after sales service in Tan Chong is much better than in Borneo Motors (Feedback from my elder sister who is Nissan owner plus my friend)
Guess I value a lot in term of after sales service and maintenance ..
heard a few cases where altris owner are made to wait as the priority goes to drivers who own Lexus ..... And the mechanic bo chap Altris owner.
Initially looking either at altris or latio with Lancer / colt as backup alternative.
After much consider and weighting in the pros and cons .. I choose Latio ...

y not get sunny instead? the ex version is ard S$55k if i'm not wrong..sounds a gd deal. u can op for the super saloon if u haf another S$5k more to spare..

I choose Latio because
1. New Model with New engine - Low Emission, More efficient
Compare to Sunny - Old out-dated engine
2. Sports is hatchback which offer better rear seating arrangment and legroom, reclining rear seat, 6:4 folding, reversible luggage board and surpisingly large glovebox
3. At 1.5 the engine is comparation even to Toyota 1.6L vvti (Specs to Specs)
4. Made in Japan
5. I like the design better than Sunny
Interior is so much more european and very neat
Sunny is to me is ugly, I rather choose Altris or Lancer than Sunny
6. High Specification in his class and luxury factor is even higher than Sunny Altris - i.e. thats why the high price. -
hmm..perhaps its true. but it depends on individual too..one man's meat maybe another man's poison..getting something which really suits ur own taste is very important. cuz it's gonna be a car that sticks with u for maybe the next 4-5 yrs? unless it's an "point a - point b" thingy la..

hi all...i'm new here...anyway i presently own a '89 civic and though its a carburettor car...it gives about 11km per litre too...
regarding altis or latio...i'd go for the latio...when finances are agreeable...cos its got much more features that are up to date...stuff tat u'd find in much more expensives marques...
the altis is also a very good car...only that mag reviews comment tat if u push it hard...the engine can get raucous...i think tat means a tad too noisy...or not steady in high speeds... -
If your relative owns a Nissan, you can get further disc! Please ask for it (My SE did't mention it until my relative told me; luckily before I sign).

Too bad Me cant afford any of them. Nevertheless want to offer my view
my heart goes for Latio better quality, refinement , the seats really are very comfortable, can really imagine myself sleeeping on it. Its like one class higher than Altis
but in the end the practicality in me will still opt for ALtis due to lower pricing... -

I sent my marchie down for service and pop into showroom to chk out the latio sport.. really cool and sporty!!!
I will definitely choose latio sport over altis.. cos it is really more chic and stylish.
