i see....my main reason just to get a first car lorOriginally posted by wbucket:Rio is 44k now. I guess you are not considering hatch?
Am thinking, maybe only Proton Wira about the price range. High a bit, you have Hyundai Accent. But these are not fantastic cars either.
Push your budget a little more higher, 50k. You will have much more choices. Kia Cerato, Chervolet Aveo are much more popular names. With Nissan Sunny, Toyota Vios, Suzuki Liana are not too far out of range.
Here's the advice I give to first time car buyers all the time. If you can't save about 1k a month, don't buy a car. If you can, save up a few more Ks and to make a bigger down payment for a better car. 6months=6000, budget raises to 50k. 1 year later, can get Vios.
Now getting a car would be bond to it for 10 years, or 5-7 at least. Once you gotten a car, you will have to cut back on a lot of your expense. Not impossible, just a bit hard at first. Worse if you are taking 10 years loan.Originally posted by sidestep1984:i see....my main reason just to get a first car lor

well ... wat would u recommend for a second hand car? Suzuki Swift?Originally posted by carmour:If you want to buy a car, and Don't want to be bonded 10 yrs, or you are not financially sound, an option is to buy a 2nd-hand one.
Alternatively, rent one.![]()
icic ... i guess is a Swift 1000cc? I consider that b4.Originally posted by Xtraun:u can consider swift, toyota or civic. currently driving swift
I don't know about COE cars. Always thought that you save up of the car price, then use it on the maintences. Buying second-hand car when buying your first car doesn't seems advise-able. 1 important factor is you might not know any mechanics that could help you check out the car. Also very hard to calculate the maintenece cost involved in it.Originally posted by zenixth:icic ... i guess is a Swift 1000cc? I consider that b4.
Is yours a COE car?
I'm worried abt second hand cars may give me problems.
Subjective...Originally posted by calfskin:If it's restricted to Kia, i would suggest getting the Cerato instead of the Rio. I've test drive both, and I must admit the difference is worth much, much more than the price alone.
The overall built quality is much better, and the Cerato's doors close with a solid "THUMP!" comparable to conti cars (i think la). You've got to be delicate with the Rio though, as the doors close with a weak "piak", lest the doors fall off. No offence to follow Rio owners please.
Test drive them and you'll see what I mean.
Ultimately, choose what you truly like. It's you that's eventually gonna face the car day in, day out.![]()
