best/cheapest car insurer?

  I have to renew my insurance soon.
  I am above 26 yrs old, female, driving experience 2 yrs+, driving a 1.5l hatchback. NCD = 0. How much should i pay? I was quoted around S$2.3-2.4k (incl. GST) from AXA and Sumitomo... I think that is too ex...from wat i heard from forumites... Can recommend who is a good and cheap insurer?

  U can try Maybank and ask for a quotation.

  Thanks hirwan. But are they known to be cheap and good? first time i heard of Maybank doing car insurance. maybe i too sua gu.

  It's cheaper than AXA or AIG, etc. My friend recommended to me.

  Try india or nanyang insurance....... or even liberty.

  anyone below the age of 30, all insurance will be high for them.

  Previously on AXA, the accident servicing is good, but really too ex
  Changed to India Insurance cheaper, now on China Insurance even more cheaper
  but I don't know wat happens for accident servicing *touch wood* don't need to use....

  If u want it to be cheaper than use your father or mother 's name lor, and tats if they have lic lah. Sure cheaper by a lot more.

  not sure if you try Tokyo Marine. Reliable.. price competitive.
  NTUC .. sigh.. no no ... Sorry state of car repair as they go by lowest bid tender basis if u have an accident.
  others like AA.. etc.. think should be cheaper than 2-3k.

  Just to share my experience.. Going to renew my insurance soon..
  go around for some quotes... the usual insurance companies..
  am surprise that if u ask them for a 2nd quote, the premium are actually bargainable !!
  
  Talk about fat margins... !!!
  
  So pse do not accept their 1st quote for premium lah.. Although some items may varies slightly so read with care.

  The insurance is going up because repair costs are going up. One of the reason for this is that the car parts are getting more expensive. I believe this is in line with the government strategy to reduce the car prices but increase the cost of ownership.
  
  On a side note, if I was to choose a car insurer I would go for the lowest quote. It's always puzzling for me to hear that people are ready to pay more so that in a highly unlikely event of an accident they can go to any workshop they like. When I buy insurance I simply hope that I will never get the chance to use it, that's all.

  Why car parts are more expensive ?? There are enough 2-5 yrs old cars being scrapped to salvage enough useable parts. Even if brand new parts, don't think they are subject to the punitive tax tat new cars are paying.. So car parts more expensive dun make sense leh...
  
  Not sure if these is another insurances companies excuse.. Suggest that CASE take issue with them.. Think we have to be more transparent on the cost involved..
  
  If govt wants to reduce car prices ie COE they have already done so. To control ownership would be to control the quota and variable taxes in the form of ERP. Pay wat u use. Next in line would be virtual ERP via satelillite linkage. Think ex-speaker Tan SK already give a glimpse of the future to come.
  
  Think if yr car have high COE/Scrap value, and are likley to scrap after 5 yrs, then better to just use 3rd party insurance rather than comprehensive..
