Doesn't the same rule of driving applies here. Slow moving car on the left, other overtake on the right. I have this feeling that you are not at fault. As for the other car, I find it hard to say if the fault is there too. Many factors are involved.Originally posted by Axl:hi, need to consult u guys on the advance theory of driving in a roundabout..
i entered the roundabout and needed to exit at the 3rd one... but throughout i kept to the out most circle.. suddenly this car on my right horned at me,. apparently he wanted to exit on the 2nd one and he thot that since i'm on the outer most circle, i would be exiting at the 2nd one too... but i kept on turning and hence blocked his way... luckily a potential accident was averted... but question remains: who is at fault?
i scare later cannot exit mah ... then keep turning around the roundabout.. dizzy sia..Originally posted by ditzy:Keep your signal on at all times. The other driver shouldn't be driving alongside of you. He should be on the outer lane. But then thinking again, you should be in the inner lane since you exiting later.![]()

So which country did you learn your driving skills? Care to share?Originally posted by Bloop...:This is pretty much common sense and is thought in every driving school in the world - BASIC use of a round-a-bout. Don't they teach it here???![]()
Got licence in California.. then took refresher in Melbourne when I switched to right-hand drive...Originally posted by wbucket:So which country did you learn your driving skills? Care to share?
Cause this thread really stuck me there. I seriously never been into a round-about in my practical driving lesson in Singapore. But due to my impatient nature, I will always over-take. So somehow I drove the right way in the round-about, according to your explanation. The right signal thing I also never heard before, and I was wondering if I am doing the wrong thing.Originally posted by Bloop...:Got licence in California.. then took refresher in Melbourne when I switched to right-hand drive...
I guess they concentrate a lot more on round-a-bout and other uncontrolled junctions in these places, cause there are way more of such junctions there.
Why'd you ask? Does it make a difference as to how a round-a-bout should be used?![]()
Of coz u are at fault la... you stick to left, how is anybody gonna leave the roundabout? You are literally 'fencing up' 3/4 of the roundabout.Originally posted by Axl:hi, need to consult u guys on the advance theory of driving in a roundabout..

Ah! But in Melbourne, you not only have to worry about round-a-bouts... there are also 4 way intersections without traffic lights AND HOOK-TURNS!!!Originally posted by one-niner:hmm i think your in the wrong, if your only exiting in the 3rd exit, you should be keeping in the middle or inner lane, but middle lane being the most obvious one.
basic rule in run-about, the vehicle on your right has the right of way when your entering the round-about.
My guess is that you haven't encountered a roundable before, hence sticking to the outer most lane. I did the same in melbourne, and i got horned like crazy..haha..soon i was horning others..
Just stick to the center of the lane, start to signal after 2nd exit and filter into the lane.i can't recall if newton circus runabout has 1 or 2 filter lane though.
