Observers say WRX is hottest contender as police check out new patrol cars
the next time u see a WRX roaring down the Central Expressway at breakneck speed, it may not be another illegal street race that u are witnessing.In fact ,there could be a policeman behind the wheel
The Traffic police called for a public tender to replace some of their highway patrol cars in January and are colse to deciding which car they prefer.
The police did not want to comment, beyong saying they were changing a few expressway patrol cars due for replacement.
The Strait Times understands the tender-for four cars to be delivered and an option for eight more -drew bids from volvo,Skoda and BMW.Subaru with its rally winning WRX, was the only japanese contender.
Observers reckon the WRX has the fighting chance coz it bid is belived to be the lowest at ard $52k each .The passenger car version ,including taxes,duties and COE is retailing for below $100k -

5.8secs is correct.. if its 7.8sec no one would wanna buy the WRX loh, then even a lexus LS430 can outrun it..
But i seriously hope they won't adopt the rex, it'll really ruin the image of the police force.

hope they use WRX...then if u spot one next to u in a traffic light stop waiting for green light....be sure to ram ur car rpm and see whats the WRX reaction is.....lol
