It is normal for fuel comsumpition to be high on new cars during the run-in. Once the car achieve certain mileage and changing engine oil from oil-based to synthetic type, you may get abt 11-14km/l . To get 15km/l, you have drive on an average of 80km/h with a light footed on the accelerator with few cars and less stop.Originally posted by ewoodrovers:My ride suppose to clock about 15 km but instead of hitting that, it come in at a dismal 9km. Wonder if it is common for fuel consumption to be high during run-in

Yes, fyi my ride getting about 10km/l before 1000km run in. Now it's about 12km/l before next synthetic oil change at 5000km.Originally posted by ewoodrovers:My ride suppose to clock about 15 km but instead of hitting that, it come in at a dismal 9km.
